The Diary Game [16/05/2026] // From Farm to Kitchen.

Hi guys, accept warm Steem greetings from the motherland of Cameroon, and welcome to my blog, where I'm gonna share my lifestyle content with you.

This Saturday began, as most weekends do for me, quietly, with responsibility calling early in the morning. Before the sun had fully risen, I was already awake, moving around the house and taking care of some chores.

Weekends are usually meant for rest, but in reality, they often become the perfect time to catch up on all the work that piles up during the week. From sweeping the compound to arranging a few things indoors, the morning disappeared quickly in a blur of activity.

Not long after, it was time to rush to the farm. The day’s main mission was to harvest fresh water leaves for eru, one of my favourite traditional meals. The walk to the farm felt refreshing, despite the stress of the earlier chores. The cool morning breeze and the peaceful environment made the trip worthwhile. Harvesting the water leaves reminded me once again of the importance of hard work and the beauty of eating fresh food straight from the farm.

After gathering enough vegetables, I headed to the local market. The market was lively as usual, filled with the voices of traders calling out prices and customers bargaining from one stall to another. I bought fresh beef and cow skin to complete the eru preparation.

Of course, no delicious eru is complete without hot pepper, so I made sure to buy some fresh chillis too. Since I was already at the market, I decided to purchase a few other food items that would be useful throughout the week. By the time I finished shopping, I was already exhausted but satisfied knowing that lunch would be special.

I finally returned home carrying my market bags, hoping to rest a little before cooking. But immediately I stepped into the house boom!! another blackout. At this point, power cuts have sadly become part of everyday life. The constant electricity failure is becoming frustrating and is seriously affecting businesses and daily activities. I could not help but feel annoyed and disappointed. Still, life had to continue, so I focused on preparing the eru.

Cooking took quite some time, but the aroma that filled the kitchen made the effort worthwhile. After finally finishing the meal, I took a cold bath to cool my tired body. The weather was warm, and without electricity, there was no AC or fan, so the bath felt incredibly refreshing. I then stretched out on my bed and took a nap while silently hoping that power would soon be restored.

Unfortunately, when I woke up later in the evening, darkness still covered the entire neighbourhood. To my greatest surprise, even by 7:00 PM there was still no electricity. What hurt me most was realising that I had completely missed the FA Cup final between Manchester City and Chelsea. I had been looking forward to watching the match, but the blackout ruined those plans entirely.

We continued waiting patiently, hoping each minute would bring back the lights. Finally, at about 8:00 PM, electricity was restored. By then, I was already too tired to do anything meaningful. I simply ate a few snacks, relaxed for a short while, and decided to call it a day. Until my next diary entry, I wish you all a blessed weekend.
