The Diary Game:[12/05/2026] Having a Nice Breakfast, Gaming, and Cooking Egusi Soup
Welcome to my diary game entry for a busy but fulfilling Tuesday, May 12th, 2026, here in Uyo City, Nigeria. It was a day that combined the simple pleasures of a good meal with the excitement of my favorite video game, and the rewarding work of preparing a traditional soup. Join me as I recount the events.
A simple But Satisfying Morning
My day kicked off around 8:00 AM. I’m a firm believer that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, setting the tone for everything that follows. Since I had a busy morning planned, I opted for something quick, nutritious, and undeniably delicious: "Milk Cream" sliced bread.
As you can see from the first photo, my breakfast table was set with the essentials. Of course, a simple breakfast isn’t complete without a hot beverage. I had some TOPCAFÉ 3-in-1 coffee sachets, which are incredibly convenient. The rich, creamy white coffee paired perfectly with the bread, giving me that much-needed caffeine kick to start my morning. I sat by the window in the dining area, watching the city slowly come alive, appreciating the brief moment of quiet before the day truly began.
Diving Into the World of Blood Strike
With breakfast out of the way and feeling energized, I was ready for some relaxation. Around 10:30 AM, I grabbed my phone and logged into one of my current favorite games, BLOOD STRIKE.
As the second image shows, this is a look at my main lobby screen. My striker was all geared up with a futuristic red-and-black cyber-suit, a striking red visor, and a vibrant green and purple weapon skin for the assault rifle. I was aiming for some Battle Royale (BR) - Ranked action, specifically looking to improve my standings and experience the Legendary Odyssey II event.
The matches were intense! I love the fast-paced nature of the game and the strategic thinking required, even though the map resource for Deserted Valley hadn't fully downloaded yet. I spent a good two hours playing, enjoying some impressive wins and suffering a few challenging losses. Gaming is a fantastic way for me to unwind and disconnect for a while, and it was a great interlude to my day.
Stepping into the Kitchen to Prepare a Nigerian Feast
After my gaming session wrapped up around 1:00 PM, my thoughts immediately turned to dinner. I had been planning to make Egusi soup, a classic Nigerian dish, for a couple of days. The morning’s energy was still with me, so I decided to spend my afternoon in the kitchen. Making Egusi soup is a multi-step process, but it's always worth it. I started by getting all the ingredients ready: the melon seeds (Egusi), a mix of protein (animal skin, beef, and stockfish), a selection of vegetables (I used hotleaf), plenty of onions, palm oil, and various spices and stock cubes.
The third picture shows me, full of anticipation, on my way to the market to gather the final fresh produce. The dirt path behind my home is lined with dense greenery, and despite the overhead wires, it’s a familiar, lively route.
The process involves first cooking the meat until tender. While that was happening, I blended the melon seeds. After frying the onions in palm oil, I added the blended Egusi, frying it until it formed little clumps. Then came the meat stock, seasoning, and finally, the cooked meats and vegetables. It simmered beautifully, the rich, savory aroma filling the entire house. The final photo is the masterpiece: a hearty bowl of Egusi soup (rich with melon seeds, peppers, and green vegetables) on an orange plate, served alongside a large portion of perfectly prepared Eba (garri). Looking at that plate, I knew the effort was worth it.
It was truly a nice day, from that simple, perfect morning start to the excitement of the game and the satisfaction of cooking a traditional Nigerian meal. Thanks for reading my diary entry for the Recreative Steem community! Until next time.
