The Diary Game: Playing Football match with an injury and winning a trophy [16/09/2026]

Good day my steemit family, i hope you are all good. Welcome to another diary session with me, @emmano. Today I won my second football medal while playing with an injury, it was such a thrilling day and I just can't wait to tell you guys how today went for me, so do well to stay till the end.

^{Woke up just overly excited}

You know that feeling that comes with knowing something big is happening that day, that's exactly how i was feeling today. I woke up all smiles this morning because today's the final match of my school's SUG cup, and my team happen to be one of the two teams that made it to the final. If you know me personally you'll know I get excited whenever it comes to anything football. I love football with passion, if there's anything that gives me peace it's football. So just knowing that I'll be playing a final today got me overjoyed. I had this little injury just above my knee I was still nursing but that would not stop from playing today. I dressed the wound then started preparing for the match.

Unlike other players that get anxious and nervous when there's a big game, I was over calm and chill, i wasn't scared or stressing over the match at all. I don't usually get nervous over a match no matter how big the match might be. I was just like can the time go fast so I can play and win the match, that was all that was on my mind, how i was going to win the match. I did few light workout session in my room just to release some sweat and free my body. After that I went to get something to eat, got my chewing gums ready, the gums are a very important part of my game, i don't play any match without chewing gums. Took one energy drink along then i took my bath before heading to the match venue.

I got to the match venue about thirty minutes to the match. Met few of my teammates there already, we greeted, then started talking different tactics to use in the match. About ten minutes to the match we all kitted up, wore our jerseys and boots then went to warm up. After warming up, our captain started making the starting lineups and the subs, my name wasn't among the starting eleven but i was among the substitutes. Not starting didn't bring down my morale at all, my main focus was winning the match. The match started with a high intensity, the opponent weren't making the match easy for us at all, they were just attacking us from small sides. They got the first goal at almost half time. I was scared when they scored thinking we had lost the final, it was our captain that was reassuring us that there's still a lot of time to play and they we can make a comeback. Then my mind came down. Half-time and we had a team talk, with no subs yet. Second half started and we equalized barely fifteen minutes into the second half making the scoreline 1-1. The game became caIm again, then i was subbed in, they were dominating us i'm not going to lie but we got a penalty late in the match and our captain took it calmly and scored. Both those on the bench and those on the pitch ran towards the scorer celebrating the goal. Screams from left and right around the field, now we have about five minutes of injury time to defend our lead. Our opponent kept sending multiple shots towards our goal post but none went in thanks to our gallant goal keeper. The ref blowed the final whistle, we all ran towards our goalkeeper to celebrate because he was the one keeping us in the game with all his wonderful saves. Celebration all around the pitch. We celebrated like we just won the world cup. After about thirty minutes of loud celebration, we were given medals and the trophy with our cash prize. We still remained on the field for another thirty minutes singing and jubilating. I got home very tired from all the celebrating, took my bath then laid on the floor before I know it, i had fallen asleep.
