The Diary Game|| HOW I SPENT MY SUNDAY AND OTHER RECORDS OF ACTIVITIES ||4/1/2026

To Christians, how was church service today? God bless you richly. To people of other faiths, may the Almighty God grant you a fruitful and prosperous 2026. My engagements for the day did not end in church alone. I visited three places for the first time this new year. I was warmly received and celebrated, and I also used the opportunity to pray with each household visited.

MORNING

Sunday is always a very engaging day for me. I woke up early and began my day with God through the Presbyterian Family Altar devotional guide, using it as a guide for prayers. By about 7:00am, I was already preparing, bathed and got set; and left the house before 8:00am. On getting to church, a few members were already present, and we engaged in prayers while waiting for the main service, which commenced at 9:00am. Those who came late joined midway into the service.

Church and after service

Being the first Sunday of the year, we created time for corporate prayers and prophetic declarations, speaking on the theme “Say It and Have It”, in consonance with the General Assembly’s theme “Grace Upon Grace” from John 1:16. The sermon centered on faith. Without faith, nothing works. Trust in God is essential in every area of life. Mark 11:23

|“I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.”

We were reminded that in this year, we need faith put into action, because faith without works is dead. The message emphasized that everything in life is possible if only we have faith in God and worship Him in spirit and in truth. The service, which ended with Holy Communion, closed at exactly 11:07am. We took photographs, exchanged pleasantries, and departed joyfully.

Taking Lunch and Relaxation

AFTERNOON

In the afternoon, I initially planned to attend the Akwa Ibom State Thanksgiving Service at the Ibom International Worship Center. However, I felt quite sleepy, and my wife advised that I should rest, which I did. By 1:30pm, I anticipated watching the football match between Leeds United and Manchester United, but the electricity supply was interrupted, so I continued resting. Later, I went out to visit some Steemians. From their house, we proceeded to the Ifiayong community on a New Year visitation tour. We had a pleasant time with mild entertainment and were given editan leaves, a local vegetable used for soup. After spending quality time with the family at Ifiayong, we returned to my house later in the evening.

EVENING

On our way back to Uyo from Ifiayong, we branched to my former neighborhood where I lived before relocating to Uyo. I checked on people around and wished them a Happy New Year.

Visiting my former neighborhood

Before 6:00pm, we arrived at my house in Uyo, as they dropped my family and me off. Earlier in the afternoon, we had enjoyed fufu and a sumptuous melon soup, and at Ifiayong, we were served light refreshments. As a result, we decided to keep dinner simple—cassava flakes with groundnuts. It was a beautiful moment of sharing together in the spirit of the new year.

Having a good time with Steemians

Special appreciation goes to @annydee01 and @dedejur, whose kindness and friendliness truly made my day memorable. At about 7:09pm, after seeing them off, my wife asked me to accompany her to a nearby supermarket to get insecticide and a few household items. After shopping, we took a slow walk home, enjoying the cool evening breeze and street view.

In the Supermarket to buy Insecticide and enjoy Cool Breeze on the Street

On getting home, I planned to watch the Manchester City vs Chelsea match, only to realize that my subscription had expired. With no other option, I ended the day by enjoying home-made puff-puff with zobo before going to bed.

WHAT STOOD OUT FOR MY DAY

  1. The warm reception I received in the places I visited, reminding of values our presence could be in people's life. Therefore, we need to check on others as much as we could.
  2. Breaking bread together in the spirit of the New Year celebration, strengthening bonds of love and fellowship.

STAY BLESSED
