Diary of Lionel-Richie — 100 Days Started With One Day

One thing I find interesting about consistency is that you usually don't notice how far you've gone until you finally stop and look back.

Today, I got a small reminder of that.

I went out very early for a meeting with our HOD. We discussed issues around accreditation and indexing, which has been an important matter for us as students.

Then came the good news.

We were informed that the VC had approved that the numerous number of students would be indexed regardless of the usual quota of 50 students.

That was genuinely good news for us.

After the meeting, I returned home and suddenly had nothing else to do.

So I got on my bed, put on a movie and planned to relax for a while. Apparently, my body had other plans. I eventually slept off.

Before sleeping, though, I had taken some garri with biscuits, milk and sugar. I was already a little tired, so I think that combination and the comfort of my bed did the rest.

While I was sleeping, my friends came around and woke me up.

They wanted me to join them for an evening run.

I honestly could have continued sleeping, but I eventually got up, dressed and went with them. After the run, I came back, washed up and had some of my aunt's Afang soup again.

Yes, again.

At this point, I think Afang has officially become a regular character in my week.

But there was another interesting part of my day.

I opened TikTok and discovered that a friend and I had reached 100 days of streak consistency.

the streak badge

The streak badge had changed, and she had already taken a screenshot and sent it to me, excited about how far we had gone. The funny thing is that neither of us started with the intention of reaching 100 days.

It was just one day.

Then another.

Then another.

And somehow, those individual days became 100.

It made me think about how consistency works in general.

We often look at the final result and think it is a huge achievement, but we forget that the result is usually just a collection of very small actions repeated over time.

Even today's evening run was like that. I didn't feel like getting up from the bed, but I did. One small decision. And then there was something else I saw today that put things into perspective.

On my way back earlier, I witnessed a very serious accident involving a bus. The scene was quite disturbing, and some of the survivors were badly injured.

the fatal accident

As terrible as it was, I was grateful to see that there were survivors.

Sometimes, one ordinary day can contain completely different emotions.

Good news at school.

A random afternoon nap.

An evening run.

A 100-day streak.

A heavy moment on the road.

And finally, Afang soup waiting at home.

I guess that's what makes everyday life interesting.

You really don't know what the next few hours will bring.

I am most delighted your day had treated you well my friend. I like how you shared your level of consistency.

This is of great motivation to me cause I've been having this apathy towards starting something I long used to love doing.

I suppose this post was practically for me. And next time, I'd like to join you with your afang soup

Please stay away from the afang. Its mine and mine alone to enjoy. 🤗
