My Diary Game | Small Wins, Sudden Tests, and Lessons in Between| 20/01/2026

Good day everyone 👋
I hope you’re all having a calm and productive day. Today was one of those days that didn’t start dramatic but ended up leaving me with a couple of lessons to reflect on.

The main highlight of my day was finally fixing an extension socket that had been stressing me out for a while. It’s one of those little issues you keep managing until it becomes too annoying to ignore. I decided to face it today, and honestly, it wasn’t easy at all. I had to fix it, test it, reopen it, adjust things, and test again… more than once.

Each time I wanted to test it, I made sure to unplug every other appliance first before plugging it in. Just in case. You know that careful mindset where you don’t want sparks, shocks, or unnecessary stories? 😅 It took patience, but when it finally worked properly, I felt really good. That quiet “I actually did this” feeling. Small win, but a very satisfying one.

After that mini victory, I headed out for class. Things were calm at first until our lecturer started asking questions. The questions were from an online class we had on Saturday. I won’t lie — I didn’t attend that class. Saturdays are usually my football days, and I was on the field doing my normal thing.

Turns out I wasn’t alone. Almost nobody raised their hand to answer the questions. You could literally feel the disappointment in the room. The lecturer didn’t waste time — he asked us to tear out a sheet of paper, and just like that, it turned into an impromptu test.

We wrote the test, and after collecting the scripts, he used the rest of the class to advise us and express his displeasure. It wasn’t even just anger; it felt like one of those “I expect better from you” moments. It really hit home.

Looking back, I found it interesting how my day played out. Fixing the extension socket rewarded patience, focus, and caution. Skipping the online class, on the other hand, came back to bite me when I least expected it. Same day, two different outcomes — one felt good, the other not so much.

That’s student life for you. Lessons don’t always come neatly packaged. Sometimes they come through wires and sockets, and other times through surprise tests and quiet lecture halls.

At the end of the day, I’m grateful for both experiences. One reminded me that persistence pays, the other reminded me that consistency matters — even when no one is watching.

Have you ever had a day where a small win lifted your mood, but a sudden challenge reminded you to do better? I’d love to hear your thoughts 😊
