The diary post; Weekend - One of Those Saturdays That Just Refused to Be Lazy 15/03/2026
Hello everyone and happy weekend 👋
One of the things I enjoy most about being on holiday and back at home is the idea that life will be a bit slower. You know… wake up, stretch, maybe scroll your phone a little, eat something nice, and most importantly — take a proper afternoon siesta without anybody disturbing you.
Well… today clearly didn’t get that memo.
What I expected to be a calm and relaxed Saturday somehow turned into one of those days where you're busy from morning till evening, moving from one task to another without even realizing how fast the time is going.
It all started with laundry.

Now one of the perks of being at home during holidays is having access to a washing machine. Back at school, washing clothes can feel like a mini gym session — bending, scrubbing, rinsing, repeating like you're training for some kind of “Laundry Olympics.”
But at home? The machine does most of the hard work.
Still, it’s not like you just throw clothes inside and disappear. You have to sort them, add detergent, keep checking on the cycle, then bring them out to hang. Before I knew it, I was already moving around the house doing small things here and there while the machine was spinning like it had its own personal mission.
By the time the clothes were done and hung outside, the morning had already started running away.
And that was when the kitchen activities began.
Someone suggested that we should prepare bitterleaf soup, and once that idea was mentioned, there was no going back. Anyone who knows that soup knows it’s not the kind of meal you rush. It comes with its own preparation ceremony.
Soon enough, I found myself on vegetable duty.
Carrots, vegetables, and other ingredients were washed, sliced, and arranged. The kitchen started looking like one of those cooking shows where ingredients are neatly placed everywhere waiting for their moment to shine.
Except this wasn’t a TV show — this was real life, and we were the unpaid chefs.
Slowly the cooking process started. Oil heating, ingredients entering the pot one after the other, spices doing their magic. At some point the aroma from the kitchen was so inviting that even people who claimed they were “not hungry” started appearing and checking the pot like food inspectors.
Between helping in the kitchen, moving things around the house, and checking on the food, I suddenly realized something shocking…
I hadn’t rested all day.
Not even the usual afternoon siesta that Saturdays are famous for.
The day had simply been moving non-stop.
Finally, after what felt like a full shift of domestic activity, the most important moment arrived — dinner time.

Let me tell you something: food always tastes better when you’ve been involved in preparing it. Maybe it’s psychological, maybe it’s hunger, maybe it’s the satisfaction of seeing the final result — but that meal was absolutely worth the effort.
By the time I finished eating, I just sat there thinking about how the whole day had gone.

The funny thing is that even though I didn’t get the quiet, lazy Saturday I originally imagined, the day still felt very satisfying.
Sometimes the days that refuse to let you rest end up being the ones that leave you feeling the most fulfilled.
Although tomorrow… I might fight harder for that siesta 😅
