The Diary Game: Visiting My Mom's Yam Barn And Eating Locally 19/1/2026

I am really enjoying my time in the village because I have been eating food directly from the farm. Today, I went to my mom's yam store house to get one yams so that I will boil and eat it with palm oil. Since I came here, I haven't eaten it. The barn was stock with yam of different species, I took the white yam and cooked.

Now, let me tell you something about a barn of this nature, the yams are not being stacked up like the conventional barns, rather, they are being kept in a wooden fenced area, then a mixture of water with salt will be poured around the place to scare away insects that might want to infest the place. Palm fronts will be placed on them so that the sun won't dry the yam off. I still remember back then when I used to harvest yam and store them in the barn for sales, consumption and next season's plantation.

After I boiled the yam, I brought palm oil from inside and then cut the yam into smaller tiny pieces then dipped them all into the palm oil and began to remove them one after the other and ate, it's another kind of feeling eating this yam like this. Let's even talk about the nutritional value it provides and everything, so you see? I am loving it here, to be very honest.

As I finished eating, my stomach was like it was being inflated, it became really big, I was even laughing at how I sat down at one spot to eat all that food because even my siblings and mum didn't eat it, they prefer it being being cooked as Porridge and not like I don't like it porridge oo, I just didn't want the porridge taste today.

When I finished, I took my bath and went inside to stay and get to know what was going on at work, I turned on the camera streaming on my phone and was live streaming my shop. The only thing that is keeping me right now in this village is to finalize the payment for the land I recently acquired and immediately I am done, I will be saying bye bye to this village.

My sister came back from the farm with her daughter, she gave me her daughter to baby sit for her while she goes in to change up and bath. The little girl was playing with me and laughing, uncle was also playing with the little baby. When my sister finished what she was doing, she came and took the baby, bathed her and breastfed her.

Throughout that hot sun, I stayed back inside because I didn't want the hot sun to burn my skin. When it was evening, I took mat to go and lie down under the tree that is outside, the kind of fresh air I received while here was out of this world.

In the evening, I dressed and went to the village town hall because I heard there might be a little bonfire in the night, when I got there, there wasn't a single sign of person, I had to come back home and rest. I attended the first class of steemit before going to bed.
