SVM Testnet Update: UI Kit Development and 395K+ Blocks Reached
Hi everyone,
Following up on my previous update regarding frontend development progress and successful swap testing, I want to provide a brief but important status report on the Steem Virtual Machine (SVM) testnet.
The network continues to operate with exceptional stability, and our development efforts are now deeply focused on refining the user experience to match the robustness of our underlying infrastructure.
Network Health and Current Metrics
The SVM testnet remains in a state of perfect health. The chain continues to produce blocks consistently, and the validator set is maintaining excellent uptime and consensus stability.
Current Testnet Statistics:
- Total Blocks Produced: 395,000+
- Total Transactions: 13,808
- Average Block Time: ~5.4 seconds
- Active Validators: 11 / 12
Reaching nearly 400,000 blocks is a significant milestone. It demonstrates that the v0.0.4.x security patches, the zero-inflation fee market, and the automated validator update workflows are functioning exactly as designed over an extended period.
Smart Contract Robustness and Local Testing
As we prepare for broader public interaction with the Sherpa Protocol, I have been conducting extensive local testing of the deployed smart contracts.
The results continue to be highly encouraging. The contracts are proving to be exceptionally robust. The interactions between the LendingPool, VaultManager, wSTEEM, and the SherpaOracle are executing flawlessly, with no state anomalies, reverts, or unexpected gas consumption. The foundational DeFi architecture is solid and ready to handle complex, real-world usage patterns.
Focus on the SVM App UI Kit
While the backend and smart contracts are performing perfectly, a world-class decentralized application requires a world-class user interface.
Currently, my primary development focus is on building and refining the UI Kit for the SVM App.
Rather than rushing a fragmented interface to production, we are taking the time to build a comprehensive, reusable, and accessible UI component library. This ensures that:
- Consistency: Every page, modal, and button shares the same professional design language.
- Scalability: As we add new features (like advanced farming, governance voting, or cross-chain bridging), new components can be integrated seamlessly.
- Accessibility: The interface will be intuitive for both native STEEM users and those migrating from other EVM-compatible ecosystems.
Once the UI Kit is finalized, it will be rapidly assembled into the complete SVM App frontend, bringing us one step closer to the public beta release.
Next Steps
- Finalize UI Kit: Complete the design and coding of the core component library.
- App Integration: Assemble the UI Kit components into the main SVM App interface.
- End-to-End Testing: Conduct rigorous testing of the full user journey, from wallet connection to executing a swap and providing liquidity.
I will share a visual preview and the official access link to the new SVM App as soon as the UI integration is complete.
Testnet Disclaimer
Important Reminder: The Steem Virtual Machine (SVM) is strictly in its testnet phase. All bonded STEEM, transactions executed, and tokens generated are purely for testing the consensus and EVM execution layers. There is no real-world monetary value attached to this chain or its assets.
Thank you to our active validators for maintaining the network's stability, which provides the reliable foundation necessary for this rapid iteration and testing. We are building something truly transformative for the STEEM ecosystem, and I appreciate your continued support.
