It is built directly on the Steem blockchain:
- 🔐 Login with your Steem account: no new signups, no passwords stored, no emails collected.
- 💰 Stakes are real on-chain transfers: when you join a staked match, your entry stake is frozen on-chain, visible to anyone on a block explorer.
- 🏆 Payouts are on-chain transfers : the winner prize is sent as a real STEEM transfer the moment the game ends. No withdrawal buttons, no waiting periods, no middleman holding your funds.
- 📜 Every game result is published on-chain: as a
custom_jsonrecord, who played, who won, and the final result are permanently verifiable by anyone. Nobody can fake a result or quietly delete a game.
🎮 Game Modes

| Practice Mode | 4-player game against Steem Ludo bots. Free perfect for learning before you stake. |
| Private Table | Create a room and invite your friends with a room code jo join it |
| Tournament (2v2) | Play with teammate to make two different teams. Win together, and the prize is split between both teammates. |
The winner of a staked match takes 90% of the total pot (10% is set for steemludo server maintenance). Staked wins also earn you Boosts as a bonus reward!
Ludo Rules — How To Play
Here are the complete rules as they work on SteemLudo.
🎯 Objective
Be the first player to move all 4 of your pieces from your starting yard, all the way around the board and into your middle home triangle.
🎲 Starting the Game
- Each player has 4 pieces locked in their colored yard.
- Players take turns rolling a single die.
- You must roll a 6 to unlock a piece and move it onto the board at your starting square.
- If all your remaining pieces are locked in the yard, you get 3 tries to roll a 6 on your turn.
➡️ Movement
- Move one piece forward by exactly the number you roll.
- Rolling a 6 gives you an extra roll, use it to open a new piece or push one forward.
- If you have multiple pieces on the board, you choose which one to move.
- If no legal move is possible, your turn passes to the next player.
⚔️ Capturing (Killing)
- Land exactly on a square occupied by a single enemy piece and you capture it. it gets sent all the way back to its yard and must roll a 6 to come out again.
- You cannot capture on a safe zone (the marked star squares and each player's starting square).
- You cannot capture a stack: if two or more enemy pieces share a square, they protect each other and simply share the cell.
🛡️ Safe Zones
- The board has marked safe squares where pieces can never be captured.
- Your own starting square is also safe.
- Use them wisely — parking on a safe square at the right moment can save your game.
🏁 Reaching Home
- After completing a full lap of the board, each piece turns into its colored home column.
- Enemy pieces can never enter your home column, your pieces are safe there.
- A piece needs an exact roll to land on the final home square. If your roll is too big, that piece can't move.
⏱️ Turn Timer (Online Games)
- Online matches use a turn countdown, take too long and your turn is skipped, so stay sharp!
- Leaving a staked game counts as a forfeit, the remaining player wins the pot. Abandoned games with no players remaining have no winner.
🏆 Winning
- Classic / staked matches: the first player to bring all pieces home wins the pot, paid out on-chain instantly.
- Tournament (2v2): your team wins when the winning teammate finishes and the prize is split between both of you.
