Portrait of a Winter Girl
Hey Steemians.
Since I I joined this platform I have not been able to do anything because my phone has been giving me a lot of issues but now I've fixed it I'm still managing my phone I hope I can get money from here to buy a new one because I will be consistent. The more strong my phone will carry me the more I will be posting.
So today I want to share how I put together this portrait, from the pen lines to a finished ink drawing. Here's how it went down:
Items used
A black pen and a sheet of paper
Step 1
I started with just the hair warmer she's wearing. I drew a two curved lines forming the folded brim the hair warmer and the rounded top. At this stage it's rough mostly pen, just getting the proportions and slant right.
Step 2
Next I added the curve of the head/hair beneath the warmer. I used a dashed guideline down the center to help me keep the face symmetrical later on. You can also see the first strands of hair starting to form at the bottom.
Step 3
I went back over the warmer lines to lock them in then started layering the hair sections, you can see the hair taking shape flowing down from under the hair warmer.
Step 4
Once the hair framework felt solid I placed the eyebrow and a simple curved line for the eye. This is the point where the drawing starts feeling like an actual face rather than just shapes.
Step 5
I went back in and added eyelashes, the iris the pupil and shading to the eyebrow and a small details that bring life and focus to the piece since the eye is the main focal point.
Step 6
With the eye done I filled in the nose lips and the curve of the jaw/neck connecting all the features into a full face.
Step 7
Last step I went back over the hair with directional shading strokes to give it texture and cleaned up the linework throughout for the finished piece. Before you know it I was done.
Step 8
Lastly I added my username and making sure I tidy up my drawings.
