"Prove yourself as the best artist for the week".

Greetings, dear friends. I am delighted to be here this week with this piece of pencil drawing to prove myself as the best artist for the week. Below is my entry as I seek to answer the guided questions.

What I drew in this week's contest is a hand holding a glass and a breakable light bulb. The hand grabbed the light bulb with just three fingers, which are the thumb, middle finger and the ring finger.

Materials for the drawing

• White A4 embossed paper
• 4B pencil
• 2B pencil
• HB pencil
• Eraser
• Razor blade

Step 1
I began by drawing the thumb using my HB pencil.

Step 2
I drew the light bulb using my HB pencil. I started from the cap which has a screw design pattern. I then drew the glass bulb giving it an oval shape.

Step 3
I drew the remaining parts of the hand. I began with the index finger, followed by the middle finger and the ring finger which are the ones that give grip to the bulb, the small finger and the wrist.

Step 4
I shaded the light bulb using a 6B and HB pencil and blended with a brush. Right inside the bulb, I designed the inner glass and support wires.

Step 5
I shaded the two middle fingers that grip the bulb and the cap of the bulb. I used the 6B, 2B and then blended the shading with a brush.

Step 6
Here, I shaded the thumb and the index finger using HB and a 4B pencil and blended with a brush.

Step 7
I shaded the small finger and the remaining parts of the hand. Parts of the palm are behind the bulb but we can see its reflection through the bulb. I then blended the shading with a brush.

✅ How long did it take to complete your drawing and how do you feel about it?

I took about three hours to make this drawing. I started on the 3rd of May and completed it the next day because I was interrupted by other activities. However, I feel satisfied at the end of the drawing
