Prove yourself as the best artist for this week
This is a shoe that has experienced the Abuja(capital of Nigeria) rain and harmattan weather. It has rushed to catch buses at different metropolitan city, queued under sun at bank ATMs, and walked children to school when okada(motorbike) fare was too high.
From the darkness inside where a foot once lived, a leave germinates. it was planted in something the world called “finished.” The shoe did not intend on becoming a garden. It was just trying to survive the duration it was made for.
This is what life does to us. It wears us down. It drags us through mud we didn’t see coming. People step on us, count us out, say we’re too old. We become the thing left by the roadside.
But the human spirit is strong like that sprout. Give it even the smallest bit of darkness and time, and it will look for light. The worn out places becomes the exact spots where new things take root. The same shoe that carried burdens now carries life. The same person who felt empty becomes the ground for someone else’s hope.

I started out drawing the frame work, which serves as a skeletal sketch for the show drawing. This framework sketch was done using my HB pencil.
I began to add necessary shade to my sketch giving it some form of highlights.

This artwork of yours transforms an ordinary shoe into a profound story. Where a tiny cone emerges from within as a symbol of hope and new life. It seems as if life does not stand still in spite of exhaustion, hardships and hardships of time, but makes its own way.
