Hello folks this is my drawing for a contest organized by @dequeen titled “ prove yourself as the best artist for the week” so I decided to enroll this my tribal mark series in this contest.

This is one of the work I did for this series out of many other works which you can find on my page, and more is coming. This work is done to create an awareness of identity, culture and traditions of people in the continent of Africa. Nigeria to be precise because I am surrounded by this culture there is a need to document it through my visual language, because this is an old practice that is degrading well not like I love to have one but I believe culture is the way of life, and it good for us all and the next generation to know about what existed before they were born.

I was able to achieve this drawing using my charcoal pencil and crayon on paper. Size 8x11 inch

process

My drawing process are quiet explanatory from the beginning process up to the end of the final piece, I made use of pencil strokes to give my subject a patter or texture, so as to bring out the figure on the face. This work wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the use of my crayon, crayon is a very complex medium which involves high level of experience and experimentation.
