My Friend’s Beautiful Traditional Wedding

Image cover

There is a wise saying that goes, “He who finds a wife, finds a good thing.” Last Saturday, I saw this wonderful truth happen for my good friend. We all gathered at Gilgal International School in Shelter Afrique, Mbiabong, for her traditional marriage ceremony. Your traditional marriage was a day full of bright colors, loud laughter, and happy tears.

A Day of Color and Culture

The school field was turned into a celebration ground. There were canopies and chairs everywhere.

People came wearing their best traditional clothes. The men looked sharp in their flowing tied costly wrappers and white caftans The women were stunning in beautiful ankara and george wrappers. Every color you can think of was there.

When my friend the bride showed up, everywhere was bubbling with shouts of joy. Her university, secondary school friends and family members danced celebrated the joy with her. Her outfit was stunning and we'll detailed. But the best part was the smile, she has this perfect true smile each she laughs

The Beautiful Ceremony

The ceremony itself was very meaningful. People from both families sat together. The groom’s family presented some many gifts which are important symbols in marriage

There were prayers and advice from the older ones. You could feel the weight of the moment. This was not just a party. It was a serious and blessed step for two people starting a life together.

The Best Part: A School Reunion!

For me, one of the sweetest parts of the day was seeing my old secondary school friends. We all came to support our friend. In between the ceremonies, we found time to talk and laugh.

We took so many pictures together. It felt just like old times. We were no longer just wedding guests but group of friends who had shared so many memories growing up especially in the school .

Seeing our friend the bride so happy and surrounded by us, the people who knew her as a young girl and the also made the day even more special. The photos we took are full of real laughter and tight hugs. They are my favorite memory from the day.

A Happy Heart, and One Small Regret

My heart was so joyous because I came for the traditional wedding. But I have to be honest, I also felt a little sad. I could not attend the white wedding and the reception that happened on Saturday.
