Health Benefits Of African Cherry
Welcome to my blog. Happy new month and happy lover's day in advance. My follow steemians and members of this prestigious community I am here to educate you on something you may not be familiar with. Just read through and learn from me. In this post I will be telling you about the health benefits of this trending fruit called udara or agbalumo.
The African Cherry, also called agbalumo, or udara, in Nigeria, and scientifically known as Chrysophyllum Caminito, is a tropical native fruit to the Caribbean and Central America. It is now widely grown in many tropical regions, including West Africa and Southeast Asia.
The fruit has a smooth, shiny skin that ranges from deep purple to green, depending on the variety. Inside is a soft, jelly-like pulp that is sweet and slightly milky, with a mild, pleasant aroma. The pulp surrounds several hard, brown seeds, and is usually eaten fresh, though it can also be used in juices, smoothies, or desserts.
The African Cherry is rich in vitamin C, fibre, calcium, and antioxidants. It boosts immunity, aids digestion, and supports healthy bones and skin. Its high fibre content helps regulate blood sugar and prevent constipation. Parts of the tree are used as an herbal treatment for inflammation and infections.
The tree itself is evergreen and grows well in warm climates, producing fruit once or twice a year. Besides its fruit, the tree is appreciated for its beautiful, glossy leaves that are golden-brown underneath, making it an attractive and ornamental tree. Locally, the African Cherry has both social and nutritional values. Some people, including children, anticipate its season, making it a delight in households and markets.
Don't forget to buy it whenever you find yourself in the market. You will never regret you did so.
