Morning

‎This other day was different compared to other days.
‎Today was a day of mixed emotions. It started early, around 8 am, with the recognition service of lay preachers at Methodist Church Nigeria, Edem Idim Ibakesi.

The atmosphere was solemn, yet uplifting, as we celebrated the dedication and service of these amazing individuals. I was lost in thought, thinking about how my grandma would've loved this. She always spoke highly of the church and its people. She was even an ordained Elder. My grandma never took church activities for granted. She would make sure she attends every programme.

‎After the recognition service, we proceeded with the thanksgiving service for Grandma. The church was filled with family, friends, and well-wishers who came to pay their last respects.

The choir sang hymns that brought comfort to my heart, and the words of the hymns echoed my grandma's favorite scripture, "Blessed are the departed who die in the Lord". Speakers shared stories of her love, generosity, and strength, reminding us all of the impact she's had on our lives. I couldn't help but smile thinking about her infectious laughter and the way she'd always greet everyone with a warm smile. My grandma was a very generous woman. A genial fellow. Everyone knows she was a woman with a big heart to accommodate everyone. I miss those days we use to go to church together.

Afternoon

‎As the service came to a close, family members gathered for pictures. Some teary-eyed, others stoic, but all of us united in love and grief.

There were shots with the immediate family, then the extended family, and finally, just me and my siblings. My grandma would've loved the chaos. We laughed, we cried, and we remembered.

‎The afternoon dismissal was bittersweet. We said our goodbyes, thanking God for the gift of grandma's long life. The pastor's words kept echoing in my mind, "Death is not the end, but a transition to eternal life". The drive back home was quiet, each of us lost in our thoughts, reflecting on the memories we shared with grandma.

Evening

‎Evening came, and I found myself on the couch, just chilling, replaying the day's events. The house feels emptier without grandma's presence, but I know she's watching over us. I smiled thinking about her favorite proverb, "A tree with strong roots laughs at storms." She's my storm-weathering tree. I think I'll keep her memory alive by living the values she instilled in me. Love, kindness, and generosity.

‎I prepared something for dinner. While cooking I took some can drink to soothe my mood. I took shots of black Bullet to calm my brain since it has some alcohol content.

‎As the night draws in, I'm grateful for the memories, the love, and the legacy she left behind. Rest well, Eka Nna as popularly known.

‎I will never forget all the moral lessons my grandma had taught me when she was still here with us. Elder Ima Akpan Inyang I won't forget you in a hurry.

It is my pleasure you went through my blog and post as well. Thank you so much. I am grateful.
‎Happy steeming. I love this community and want to keep sharing my stories and thoughts here. More stories coming up. keep steeming.
