Drawing tutorial: Portrait of a lady dressed for winter

in Steem For Bangladeshlast month
Greetings dear friends. I am pleased to present to you a detailed guide on how to draw a lady dressed for winter. I believe that if you carefully follow this tutorial, you will do even better than I.

Winter is the coldest and darkest season of the year. Therefore, people dress by putting on a head warmer, muffler and jacket to control or reduce the intensity of the cold, as can be seen in today's drawing.

Materials for the drawing

  • Plain embossed paper
  • HB pencil
  • 2B pencil
  • 6B pencil
  • 10B pencil
  • Eraser
  • Sharpener
  • Citton wool

Step 1
I wrote my name and date on the plain embossed paper and then began by drawing the left eye. I drew another line above the eye to show how the skin folded as the eye opened. I drew the eyelid and the eyebrow using an HB pencil. The choice for using HB is to make the lines lighter and easier to erase when mistakes are made.

Step 2
Here, I drew the right eye following the same process as the one in step 1. I also drew the nose of the lady. I shaded the nostrils, the area around the nose and the eye. I used an HB pencil to sketch and later traced it using a 2B pencil to make it darker

Step 3
I drew the mouth of the lady. It has to be wider than the nose and not too close to each other to make it proportional. I also shaded the lips where the upper lip is darker than the lower lip. I used both HB and 2B pencils.

Step 4
Here, I sketched the outline of the face and the headwarmer. I first sketched the outline of the face, starting from the left cheek down to the lower jaw, and then the right cheek. I then conclude with the head warmer and the ears. I did a lot of cleaning and adjustment here to ensure that I get a balanced proportion.

Step 5
I sketched the muffler of the lady tightly around her neck. I also drew her shoulder.

Step 6
I drew the badge on the headwarmer and then shaded it using a 10B pencil. I then give it a pattern by drawing lines all over the headwarmer.

Step 7
I shaded the connection between the headwarmer and the face of the lady which I blended using cotton wool. I then drew her uncovered hair on the left and right sides of her cheek using a 10B and 2B pencil.

Step 8
Here, I shaded the black eyelids using a 6B pencil. I also shaded the face of the lady using a 2B pencil and blended it with cotton wool. Lastly, I darkened her eyebrow and drew the eyelashes using a 2B pencil.

Step 9
I shaded the muffler using a 10B pencil and her shirt using a 2B pencil which I all blended with the cotton wool.

Conclusion
I did a lot of cleaning and adjustment at each step of the drawing to be able to get the desired result. Therefore, never get discouraged when you are unable to achieve your goal at once. Just keep cleaning and keep making the necessary adjustments until you get what you want. Thanks and see you next.
