My Pencil Portrait of Michael B. Jordan – Sharing My Love for Drawing
Greetings to my dearest friend of Steemit and to all the wonderful members in this community. After a long time of break, I am finally back, and today I share with you all my pencil portrait of Michael B. Jordan. One thing that has always brought me joy is drawing. Ever since I started practicing with pencils, I have discovered that creating portraits allows me to express creativity in a very personal way. As an artist who enjoys working with graphite pencils, I often challenge myself by drawing portraits of well-known personalities. In this post, I am sharing my recent pencil portrait of Michael B. Jordan. Stay tuned as I walk you through the process of how I made this drawing.
Drawing items
• A4 paper
• HB pencil
• 6B and 4B pencil
• charcoal and graphite pencil
• black pen
• eraser
Step 1
In step 1, I usually begin with the eyes because they give life to the portrait. I slowly added details to the eyelids, pupils, and eyelashes while making sure to keep small highlights that make the eyes look more natural.
Step 2
After that, the next step was the nose and smile, for which I used soft pencil strokes to build the shadows around the nose and under the lips. One of my favorite parts of this drawing was working on the smile.
Step 3
After doing that, I then completely shaded the entire face, and I also drew the hair and the beard area and also added the neck.
Step 4
Next I focused on the clothing and neck. The neck and clothing were shaded slightly darker so that the face would stand out more. Blending some of the graphite helped smooth out the transitions between light and shadow, which makes the portrait look more realistic.
Step 5
Then finally, I reviewed the entire drawing and made a few adjustments where necessary. I darkened certain areas, refined some edges, and added finishing touches. Below is my final result.
My selfie with my drawing
I chose to draw Michael B. Jordan because he has very distinctive facial features and a confident smile that immediately caught my attention. When I look for subjects to draw, I usually pick people whose expressions feel lively and interesting. His smile and calm expression made this portrait both challenging and enjoyable for me. Creating this portrait of Michael B. Jordan was a fun and rewarding experience, and I’m happy to share it with this amazing community. Thanks for reading till the end.
