My Latest Drawing - A King Wounded for Love

in Steem For Bangladesh13 hours ago (edited)

Hello steemians, it's your friend @jewelking and today I'm super excited to share with you my latest pen drawing for today being Easter Sunday of April 2026.
Today I decided to challenge myself by making the kind of drawing I've never ever made and this is my first time attempting to make a portrait drawing used to portray Christ the redeemer.
Watching the movie title the passion of Christ is what fuelled my desire to make this portrait drawing of Jesus Christ.

In the movie titled the Passion of Christ, I saw the kind of pain and injuries done to a person who seemed to be helpless, deserted by friends, disciples and even those whom he had healed before he was arrested.
If only it was only a physical affliction of pain but it didn't end there. Imagine what Christ would have felt like when the people were chanting for the release of a prisoner who was caught in robbery instead of Christ being released, let him be killed.
In order words, a thief was pardoned but death was chosen for him for the redemption of the entire human race.
Well, that's so painful.

Materials I Used in this drawing includes:

•For this drawing I used a blue ball point pen
•A4 Paper

The method I used in this drawing is the scribbling method.

Below are the steps I took in the making of this drawing

Step 1:

First I started by drawing the thorns, then I drew his eye brows, his eyes, his nose together with the nostrils, making sure there is proper alignment then I drew partly his mustache.

Step 2:

Here I proceeded and drew more of his mustache. Then his upper lip and lower lip.
Then I added a few more details to his face, this also helped present the appearance of pain or wound and even more detail to the facial expressions.

Step 3:

Here I completed drawing his beard completely and drawing his neck and adding a few more important details to it. Then I completed drawing the crown of thorn on his head to be able to size up to his head.

Step 4:

Here I added more details on his hair to be able to be in the right proportion with his head and the crown of thorns. I also added a few above the crown as it would be more realistic.

Step 5:

Here I strengthened the details on the drawing to make it bold enough and beautiful.

Creating this drawing was both touching and emotional to me knowing that humans once gathered together and used spikes and torn to make a crown for a fellow human unknown to them he was God born in flesh. I can't imagine the thorns that would be piercing the skins of his face, head and pressing against his skull.

The time of making this drawing was a time for me to reflect and revisit the story of Christ.

Thank you my fellow steemians for stopping by my post. I would love to hear your thoughts in the comment section whether it concerns my drawing or about Christ.
