Gandaria Railway Station, Dhaka

Gandaria Railway Station is located next to Jurain in the capital, Dhaka. This railway station was first built in 1885. The Dhaka-Narayanganj Railway was connected to the capital, Dhaka, to improve transportation facilities in Narayanganj district. Later, after the Padma Bridge was opened, the Gandaria Railway Station was renovated in 2018 to connect the railway line with the people of the southern region. Currently, the railway station has three platforms. I have shown the location of Gandaria Railway Station below through the Steem-atlas pin code.

There are two gates to enter Gandaria Railway Station. To enter the platform on the north side, you have to use the underground road. You can enter the station platform directly through the entrance gate on the south side. After entering the railway station, you can see a ticket counter. The ticket counter is written in Bengali and English. The train name and the schedule, along with the travel cost, are posted next to the ticket counter. The railway station is very clean.

Passengers purchase tickets and sit in the rest room. There is a separate rest room for female passengers. The entire railway station is under CCTV surveillance. Electric lights are installed on both sides of the platform. There is a huge area on both sides of the platform. There is a path leading out of the railway station. Passengers can drink pure water. There is a railway police station within the platform.

The railway station serves trains from Dhaka to Narayanganj and from Dhaka to Khulna. Gandaria Railway Station is located 10 kilometres from Dhaka city. Trains from Dhaka to Narayanganj run as local trains at the railway station. Since Narayanganj district is adjacent to the capital Dhaka, many people commute to their offices by train every day. Gandaria Railway Station was opened to reduce the pressure of trains, especially from Kamalapur, the largest railway station in the capital, Dhaka.

In addition to a few local trains, two special trains transport passengers to Gandaria Railway Station every day. Before the train arrives at the platform, passengers are informed of the train's name and departure location through loudspeakers on the entire platform. Each train arrives at the station, and passengers get on and off at specific times. While I was at Gandaria Railway Station, a Dhaka-bound local train arrived.

Gandaria Railway Station is operated by Bangladesh Railway. There is a facility to purchase train tickets online using apps. Train tickets can be purchased offline from the station counter. Gandaria Railway Station is very important as it is very close to the capital, Dhaka.
