The Tyre Repairman
There are a lot of technicians and artisans who work on cars, especially when your car is old and has outlived its warranty.
The tyre repairman or tyre technician is locally known as a vulcaniser. They are car doctors who specialise in tyre-related issues. We know there is one around when we see their signature signage, a pile of two or three old tyres and a fuel powered pump sitting on the pile.
You would typically need the services of a vulcaniser when:
- You run a flat tyre due to a puncture
- You suspect a leak or damaged tyre.
- Your tyres lose pressure
- You need a tyre repair or patching
- You want to check your tyre pressure
- its time to do tyre maintenance or swapping
With the growing number of private and commercial vehicles on the Nigerian roads, having the tools and skill set of a vulcaniser is a lucrative business if sited in a busy location.

Conclusion
After evaluating the work of a vulcaniser and the daily income it makes. ₦12,250 x 52 days = ₦306,250 per month. It feels like a good investment to me.
In my next post, I will consider the capital in tools and equipment needed to run a successful vulcaniser service and the daily expenses incurred.

Thank you for this short guide on what vulcanization is; I didn't know. The photos are quite illustrative, and although it doesn't qualify me to do this work, it does give me a foundation for understanding what it involves. Good use of the #learnwithsteem tag. Thank you for a good article. Happy and long life!
