Snails are a very familiar animal to us. They are especially seen on rainy days or in damp places. Although they look very ordinary, their lifestyle is quite interesting.
Snails are a type of animal that has a hard shell on their back. This shell is their home. Whenever there is danger or when the environment becomes very dry, they roll up their entire body and enter the shell. It is a lot like our turtles. The shell looks twisted or spiral. It is mainly made of calcium carbonate.

The body of the snail is very soft and slippery. The way they walk makes you smile - they move very slowly. When they walk, a kind of slippery juice or mucus comes out of their body. This juice smooths the road, so that their soft body can easily walk on stones or other rough surfaces. The marks of this slippery path can be seen by seeing the snail's path.
Snails have two pairs of antennae on their heads. Their eyes are at the tips of the upper pair of antennae. However, their eyesight is not very good. They use the lower pair of antennae to smell and feel the surrounding things.

Snails usually survive by eating plants, leaves, decaying organic matter or sometimes moss. They are very useful for our environment. Because, they help keep the environment clean by eating dead or decaying things.
Snails are very quiet animals. These small inhabitants of nature do their work silently. When we see them slowly moving forward on wet soil on a rainy day, it seems as if they are capturing a quiet beauty of nature
