The Diary Game |17-03-2026 | Homebound for Eid:challenging but enjoyable train journey.
Greetings,
How are you all of my steemian friends. I am good.Hope you all are well.Today I am sharing my another post.
Eid holidays begin on March 17. Homebound people are rushing home to celebrate Eid with their families. I, along with my mother-in-law and my entire family, will be leaving for my in-laws' house to celebrate Eid.

I wake up at 7:30 in the morning, freshen up, cook, and leave. I cook for the children all day long. Since I will be on the train from morning to night, I have to cook something for them as they will not be fasting. After cooking, I wake up the children as the food is getting cold. I freshen them up, have breakfast, and then we leave the house for Chittagong Railway Station at 8:30.

I will go to my village home by Jamalpur-bound "Bijoy Express" leaving Chittagong. I entered the station and then I went straight to the monitor and saw today's train schedule. I was happy to see the train schedule on the monitor but then I was a little disappointed when the railway authorities announced the delay of the train. The train that was supposed to leave at 9:15 am arrived at 11:15 am. Even after that, the train left the station after about 15 to 20 minutes. The train was very crowded due to the large number of people heading home for Eid, people risked their lives and traveled on the roof, violating the prevailing laws.

After getting off the train, I enjoyed the beauty outside for a while. The train journey was so long and there were so many stops along the way, that the journey took about three to four hours longer than our scheduled time. The journey, which was about eight hours, took 11 hours.

When the train reached Sarachar, it was time for Iftar. So we all sat on the train and had Iftar together. I had brought some food from home for Iftar. Since I have to have Iftar outside during the journey, we only bought some gram flour from outside and ate it. The children were delighted to be at their grandparents' house all the way.

When I reached the nearest station (Piarpur) it was 10 pm. The train was delayed by about 4 hours today. Every year during the Eid journey, the train schedule gets messed up like this, which I am used to. After getting off the train, I took an auto to the river ghat. To reach my home, I had to cross the old Brahmaputra river. Since it was late at night, the crowd at the river ghat was less. I crossed the river and reached my home in a van. After reaching home, I freshened up, had dinner and went to sleep. I have to get up early for Sehri. From tomorrow, I will start enjoying my holidays, Insha Allah.

Sister Rauja, you’ve beautifully captured the experience of returning home for Eid through a long train journey and station crowds. Despite a 4-hour delay and 11 hours of exhaustion, the joy of heading home is truly special. The moment of having Iftar together on the train was wonderful.
