SLC S23 week2 || Computer Repair - The Motherboard
Hello my dear steemian friends,
Assalalmu alaikum
I am @saifuddinmahmud from Bangladesh. I am very excited to join Steemit Learning Challenge Season 23 Week 2. The topic is Computer Repair-The Motherboard challenged organize by @kouba01. Now I am shearing the homework task.
First Experience with a Motherboard
Question: Remember your first experience with a motherboard. Did you intend to repair it, or were you just curious to see the inside of a central unit? What was your reaction to this technical complexity? If you have never had this experience, take the time this week to open a central unit and explore its motherboard. Share your observations and impressions, including a photo of your exploration.
Answer: I use desktop in my office. For that I have better experience about a motherboard. By this learning challenge I gather much experience about a motherboard. Once a problem created into the motherboard. I am not expert for solved this. For that i took the CPU to the mechanic and he solved it.

I take a motherboard and sharing my experience all of you.
At the 1st time a take a computer PC then disconnect the motherboard from the body. A motherboard is the main circuit board of a computer which is connect all of its internal ingredients. It's also well known as the mainboard of a computer. I see that there are too many components in the motherboard. I descrive some of that.
Identifying Motherboard Components
Question: Take a photo of a motherboard, either your PC's or another PC's. Identify and name its main components, specifying their role. Describe the processor socket, RAM slots, chipset, PCIe ports, SATA and M.2 connectors, power connectors, CMOS battery, and any other visible elements. Also indicate the model of the motherboard.
Answer: This is a picture of a motherboard. The motherboard is ASUS PRIME H310M-K R2.0 motherboard. I'm going to specify the important components which contains in the motherboard.
The RAM |
---|
RAM is the short form of Random Access Memory. RAM is use for a store data for a short term use. Its also called just memory. RAM is used when CPU needs to run application or open a file. It is called random access because it helps the computer for temporarily data store and access data immediately.
RAM Slot |
---|
RAM slot is a connector into a motherboard where the RAM can connect or insert. In the motherboard there have found two-four slot for connecting RAM.
CMOS Battery |
---|
A CMOS battery is the small battery into the motherboard. Its called CMOS battery. Its working for providing power to retain important settings like system time, date, and BIOS configurations. When we turned off the computer at that time its work for computer's settings saved.
Chipset |
---|
A chipset is components on a motherboard that controls how much data can be moving between the CPU, RAM, storage, and peripherals. It's like a controller of a motherboard. Allow the connected components can be communicate.
PCIe ports |
---|
The PCIe ports is a connector on a motherboard. It allows to add expansion cards. The working principle of the PCIe ports that they are used for connecting high-speed devices likes the graphics cards, the network adapters, and also the extra storage devices.
SATA Ports |
---|
A SATA port is a connector of attaching storage devices like hard drivers, SSDs and optical drives.
Power Connector |
---|
A power connector is a component that receives electricity from the power supply unit (PSU). After that distributes to all other components which contains into the motherboard. Its provide the necessary power to CPU, RAM, chipset, and other components.
External Ports Identification
Question: Take pictures of the back of the PC to capture the external ports. Identify the different ports and explain their functions. Compare USB, HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA, Ethernet, audio jack, PS/2, and any other available ports. Detail their uses and differences.
Answer:
This is an external components of a motherboard. Now i am describing about all off this.
USB |
---|
The USB connector of a motherboard is use for connect external devices like flash drives, keyboards, mouse, mobile pen drive etc.
Ethernet port |
---|
In a motherboard, ethernet port use for connect ethernet cable and enabling computer with connect to a wired network (LAN) and access the internet through.
Earphone port |
---|
On a motherboard earphone port is used for connecting headphones and speakers to listen to audio from computer. Its also called audio port.
DVI port |
---|
DVI ports use for connect older monitors or projectors. Its transfer the digital video signal to the computer. Its also cary both digital and analog signal.
PS/2 |
---|
Its the older version of connecting keyboard and mouse. In this digital system its not use. Sometimes it use for bacrcode scener and fingerprints reader.
VGA Port |
---|
A VGA port use for connect a monitor with computer by using a VGA cable. Its the way to see the output vedio from the computer to monitor.
Motherboard Failures and Solutions
Question:Have you ever encountered a failure affecting your PC’s motherboard? If yes, explain the failure and how you fixed it. If not, mention some common failures such as power supply problems, BIOS problems, overheating components, swollen capacitors, or faulty RAM. Describe possible solutions for each problem.
Answer:
Problem: once there was created a problem in my computer. While computer is running, suddenly the display goes off. but the indicator light of the monitor, keyboard and the inside cooling fan of the PC is running.
Sollution: At that time i called to computer mechanuc and said him about the problem. He checked and find out a problem into the RAM. He said me to changed the RAM. I changed the RAM and start the computer. After changing RAM I find the computer ok.
Preventive Measures
Question: How can you prevent dust accumulation, overheating, and power surges? Why is it important to check component compatibility and connections? What are the risks associated with BIOS updates and humidity?
Answer:
1)For taking dust free purpose:

I want to keep my computer clean, I should keep my room clean. Daily room cleaning. Occasionally open the lid of the computer CPU to ventilate by using a hand blower.
2)For preventing high heat purpose:
For taking cool and preventing high heat to my computer, i should use a cooling fan into my motherboard.
3)For over currant purpose:

For preventing my computer i can use a miniature circuit breaker across my supply line. I turn off the computer when I'm not using it. I will turn off the computer when there is a storm or lightning. I also use IPS. I use a healthy combined socket for taking power supply.
Question:Why is it important to check component compatibility and connections?
Answer:Checking component compatibility and connections in a computer is very important. Because it is very important to ensures that all the parts of the computer work together properly. Preventing from system crashes and get a batter performance its should be always check compatibility and connections. Loose connection is also harmful for computer. For that its important to check connection regularly.
BIOS update risk:
Computer BIOS update problem can be created when try to update computer's Basic Input/Output System. For that it makes some problem like failure boot, system instability, hardware incompatibility etc. In the update time if Power cut than created problem to BIOS. If there not any good cooling system on motherboard than can be creat a problem to the BIOS for overheating.
At least, i hope i completed all off questions. Thanks to everyone who read my post.
