A baby’s soft spot is normal and part of healthy skull development, so it has nothing to do with whether or not you ate plantain, yam, or any other food during pregnancy.

Of course you can eat plantain during pregnancy, and can be very beneficial when eaten well and in moderation. Plantain gives your body energy. With the Pregnancy hormone causing you to fewl tired, weak, and drained, having foods like plantain helps you keep going, especially when you don’t feel like eating heavy meals.

Plantain is that food that can help when it comes to constipation. Many pregnant mamas struggle to use the toilet often because of pregnancy hormones and iron tablets. Therefore, fiber in plantain helps your bowel move better and reduces straining.

Plantain contains iron, which helps to support blood production and prevent anemia in pregnancy. Although, it is not the highest source of iron, but contributes and works best when eaten alongside other iron-rich foods.

I love plantain it helps you get full for quite longer time. This can reduce unnecessary consumption of snacks on unhealthy foods and help you gain weight gradually and healthily.

They contain potassium, which supports good muscle function and helps with leg cramps that many mothers complain about in pregnancy. It also supports healthy blood pressure.

My Advice To All Exoectant Mothers In The House

How you eat it matters. Whether Boiled, roasted, or baked plantain is the best for you. Fried plantain should be an occasional consumption, not every day, because too much oil can worsen heartburn and unnecessary weight gain.

A well ripe plantain is sweeter and higher in sugar, so if you have gestational diabetes or you are watching your sugar levels, portion size is important to take a little.

As always, there are no bad food, but excess is the problem. Balance your meals with vegetables, protein, fruits, and plenty of water.

Plantain is food, not medicine. Eat it wisely, listen to your body, and if you have any health condition, always follow your doctor or midwife’s advice.
