Unexpected Surprise 🙆🏻

You can imagine that moment when you go to a party, dress well, spray perfume, wear your best smile, and in that party some names were selected to be gifted some gift. Surely, since you know your best friend is the giver of the gift, you expect maybe your own package will be something big and surprising. However as the gift was being shared, all the receivers had to open their gifts on the public for everyone to see and clap. Finally it was your turn and your own package was handed over to you. What will you do? Open it ? Or take it home?

My dear friends that's what happen to me!

It was on the last Steemian meetup party we did. Vibes was really fulling the ground. People here and there snapping picture, we dance, ate rice with chicken and drank some cold drinks. Me on the other hand was enjoying the moment and having fun with my fellow steemians. As I was handed my own package of the gift ,I was expecting maybe wristwatch , powerbank, or branded pen as a takeaway etc. But guess what my guy @bossj23 gave me — toothbrush! Yes, you read it well. TOOTHBRUSH.

At first, I was confuse. I look the toothbrush. The Toothbrush look back at me. I check if maybe it's wasn't meant for me. I even smell my own breath small to confirm that I never offend anybody with mouth odour. I won't lie, I begin to reason that maybe my guy is trying to tell me something without talking it directly. Yes oo we Nigerians sabi pass message without using microphone, just an act.

If you see the kind laugh people laugh enhe, i joined the crowd to laugh also.

So after the party, some days later. I ask him, “Abeg, what makes you give me toothbrush? Are you trying to tell me that my mouth is doing anyhow?”

It was then the real twist enter. The guy burst laugh. I mean, real laugh that can make your stomach to burst. He said, “Mishael, I give you that toothbrush because it’s a rare gift. Not because your mouth is smelling o! I just don't want to make you receive the same kind of gift that everybody gives you. I want to make you outstanding!”

Oh my God, laughter really want to wound me. I nearly roll for ground. I told him “So it's originality that is worrying you? Or You want to make me trend with a toothbrush?” He said yes and that the toothbrush is a Golden toothbrush and rare to find.

But let's just reason it well. Is it really wrong to gift a person toothbrush? Or is it our mindset that makes us feel that toothbrush is an insult? Lol, If someone gives you deodorant, you will think that you are smelling. If someone,gives you chewing gum, you will suspect that your breath is fighting war. But maybe, just maybe, the person is just thoughtful in a very unusual way.

Now that toothbrush is one of the fancy stuffs on my room. I look at that toothbrush with pride now, because it's a motivation for to do same to someone with another thing. Who knows, maybe next meetup, I will gift someone sponge or even a mop — let the originality continue! Since @bossj23 started it.😅

So my people, let me ask you: if someone also give you toothbrush as gift, how will you react? Will you just smile and say thank you or you will begin to suspect that your mouth is doing meeting behind your back? 😂🪥
