My Favorite Nigerian Food: Beans, Plantain And Suya

Today I want to talk about something very important. Our Nigerian local food. Food is life. In this hard time of 2026 where price of rice is very high, we must remember our own food that is cheap and sweet. I want to show you Beans and Plantain with Suya. This combination is the best.

Look at this picture. This is beans and fried plantain. We call it Ewa and Dodo. See how the plantain is plenty. It is fried well, color is golden brown. The beans is under, it is cooked with palm oil, pepper and onions.

This food is loved by everybody. Students love it, workers love it, children love it.
It gives strength because beans is protein and plantain is energy.
When you chop this food in the afternoon, you will be full till night.

My mother used to cook this for us every Saturday. The smell will fill the house.
She will cook the beans for long time to make it soft, then fry the plantain.
We will sit together as family and eat. It brings joy. It brings love.
This is why I love this food, it reminds me of home and family.

Now look at this second one. This one is more special. See the plating. They add tomatoes and green pepper on top. The beans is mashed, very soft. The plantain is fried dark, that one is sweet well well.

This is what we call Gobe. You can see it in Ghana and Nigeria.
You can buy it for road side or for restaurant. Price is affordable.
Even with 1500 naira you can eat and be satisfied.

Farming connect to this food. Beans come from farm in the north. Plantain come from farm
in the east and west. Palm oil come from farm. So when we buy this food,
we are helping our farmers. We are helping Nigeria. This is better than buying
imported food. Our local food is our pride and our future.

This last picture is Suya. Ah! Suya is king of street food in Nigeria. See the meat? It is well spiced with yaji. They wrap it with paper and foil to keep it hot. They add onions for side. The taste is smoky and spicy.

Suya business is hard work. The suya man stands near fire from 4pm till 11pm.
Fire is hot, smoke enters his eyes, but he continues because he wants to feed his family.
That is hard work. That is sacrifice. We must respect them.

I like to eat beans and plantain with suya and cold drink. It is a complete meal.
You get protein from beans and suya, you get energy from plantain. It is balanced diet.
Young people can do this business and make money. Food business never fails
because people must chop every day. Oil can finish, but food will remain.

What I Learn From This

1. Hard work pays: From farmers to suya man to mama put, they all work hard. 2. Support local food: When we buy Nigerian food, we build Nigeria economy. 3. Food is culture: Beans, plantain and suya show how rich we are. 4. Business idea: Food business is good for youths to make money in 2026.

So my people, let us respect our food sellers. Let us support our farmers. Let us teach our children our local food. Farming and cooking is not poor man job. It is business, it is life, it is our future.
