Excuse me for asking @wakeupkitty, but what do you celebrate on December 5th? We celebrate Christmas Spirit Day on the 21st. We put up the tree early this year because my five grandchildren are staying with me, and the little ones get very excited about the Christmas decorations.
Hi friend,
December 5th we celebrate Sint Nicholas his birthday. This is the day presents are given to the (poor). Today it's also or perhaps mainly a celebration for children. We do celebrate and make a surprise gift with a poem. On this day it's fine to write a poem about the "ugly" habits of the one you make a gift for.
Last Saturday (always thee weeks earlier) the Saint arrived on the Dutch Island Texel.
Presents with Christmas is no Dutch habit although more people celebrate it this way.
The first time I saw a tree decorated with pluche animals was this year at a Christmas market in a garden centre.
It's a bit early for me since we celebrate December 5th, so my tree will show after December 19th.
Thank you for your entry.

It's a unique tradition, as I haven't seen it in any other country. Very beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
