The Drum That Spoke
Once upon a time, there was a very small village situated between a coastal city, where people believed that drums could speak louder than anyone in the village.
In the village people find it so difficult to communicate as speaking English was a problem for them, and since they can't communicate they rely on using drums to pass information within the village.
The elders in the village, they see drums as the most effective means of passing messages from one house to another. There were many young boys in the village, but among them all, there was a young boy called Jaja.
Whenever the drum is play he loved listening to the sound and to the talking drums so he could interpret it to his old parents.
Each time the drum is beaten, people stop whatever they are doing to listen carefully to the sound of the drum. On one faithful evening, Jaja asked an old man, "How possible for a drum to talk, which is just made of wood and skin".
The old man smiled at him and gave him the drumsticks. "Play it," the man said. Jaja hit the drum, but the sound of the drum came out rough and empty. The old man quietly collected the drum from him and started playing it. The rhythm of the drum Rose and fell like a voice telling a story.
The villagers smiled because they understood the message clearly. Jaja's eyes widened and he became worried. The old man noticed he wasn't happy and he said to him.
"My child the drum only speaks clearly when the person playing it listens to it first. From that moment, Jaja practices how to play the drums every evening. Years later, he became the best village drummer.
