TUTORIAL ON DRAWING A FIST HAND
Materials for drawing
- Plain white embossed paper
- HB pencil
- 2B pencil
- 6B pencil
- 10B pencil
- Eraser
- Razor blade
- Cotton wool
Step 1
I first wrote my name and date on the paper to claim ownership of the drawing. After that, I used my HB pencil, which is lighter, to begin the drawing. I started with the knuckle of the index finger down to the back of the hand and the wrist. From the knuckle, I extended the length of the index finger. I also drew the thumb which is resting on the index finger. I extended it down to the wrist and then drew the fingernail.
Step 2
In this step, I completed the index finger, drew the middle finger, the ring finger and the little finger which were all folded into the palm.
Step 3
I began shading the hand at this step. I shaded part of the index finger down to the wrist and I also showed how the skin in the palm is squeezed. I used the 2B and 6B pencils for the shading and blended them with the cotton wool.
Step 4
Here, I shaded the nails of the thumb, the pattern on the knuckle and then shaded the entire thumb down to the wrist using a 2B and 6B pencil. I completed this step by blending the shading using cotton wool.
Step 5
I shaded the four fingers starting with the index finger. The index finger looks darker because of the shadow from the thumb. Here, I used the 6B and HB pencils to shade and blend with the cotton wool.
Step 6
I shaded the shadow cast by the hand using a 10B pencil.

Conclusion
Friends these are the few steps I have taken to draw the fist arm. At some point, I make mistakes, but I clean and make corrections until I am able to achieve this final result. Thank you for following me gradually to this end. By now I believe you can give it a try.

I love how you carefully broke down each step, making it easy to follow. The shading and proportions were perfectly explained. I’ve always struggled with drawing hands, but this post has truly helped me understand the structure better. Great job!
