How are you all? I hope everyone is well and healthy by the grace of God. Today I will share with you the repair of the stand AC to DC fan of the Defender company.
A person in my area bought a charger fan for 8500 taka three months ago, and it is a non-brand company, and there is no service centre, so the fan has broken in such a short time, and now the problem is that there is no charging, and when it was charged with 220 volts, then the circuit of the whole house would fall idle, and a sign of a short circuit would be found, so this fan has been given to me for repair, so let's see step by step what the problem is with it.
Step -01
First, you can see I have brought the fan to my work table, and it is a very big fan, and it will be a little difficult for me to work, and I have removed the plastic cover through which this fan is standing first. Then I removed the battery from inside the fan since I have to open the complete cover, so I have to take out the battery.
Step -02
Then I removed all the screws of the fan, and you can see the inside. There is a controlling circuit and an SMPS power supply. The circuit that I have now is basically a 12-volt, 2- to 3-ampere power supply through which the fan runs and the battery is charged.
Step -03
In the picture of this step, you can see how the circuit is damaged. Here you can see that the motherboard has burnt in place of three resistors, and the resistors have been replaced, and their values are not visible, and I can't understand what value of resistor to put here. I tried a lot. Then I tried to check the resistor value through a digital multimeter, and I didn't get any value, so I decided to install this circuit new from the market.
Step -04
Then I went to the market, and you can see that there are two power supplies in front of my table, an old power supply on the left side of the hand and a new power supply on the right side of the hand, and I have to modify it a little and install it. Then, to provide power to the new circuit, I have attached the AC cord jack here to provide 220-volt input voltage.
Step -05
Then I have given 220-volt input voltage here, and you can see that DC 12 volts is being output here, but it would be better if it was shown a little more here, a minimum of 13 to 14 volts. Then I have connected the DC 12-volt output to the controlling circuit, and you can see that the charging light is on in my controlling circuit and the line has come here.
Step -06
Then I have connected the output line from the controlling circuit to the fan motor and given power; you can see that my fan blades are spinning and giving air and the SMPS power supply is fully working. Then I have fitted the entire fan, and you can see that the charging light is showing here.
Step -07
After completing the entire work, I will now give the fan to its owner, and as you can see, I have taken a picture with me to prove the authenticity of the work, and I really like taking pictures with my artwork, and when a job is done and it is worthwhile and I can deliver it very well, then I feel very happy, and the customer who gives me the fan to fix or gives me different things is also very happy because I collect the things from them, and I fix it and give it back to them, and if there is any problem in it, I show them through video call and identify it by sending the picture through WhatsApp.
Some words from work experience.
Finally, here I want to tell you one thing: when I delivered this fan, the fan was working properly with 220-volt input voltage, but its battery was not charging. Then the fan returned to me. You could have seen earlier that when I checked the output with a digital multimeter, it was showing DC 12 volts. It was doubt for me because the fan will run with this output; probably the battery will not charge. I also checked the fan with its owner, but the fan came back to me.
Again I went to the market and increased the amperage and brought another circuit whose rating was 15 volts and 2 amperes. Now the circuit that you can see – I went to the market again and changed it from the shopkeeper and refitted it again. Now it is completely fine, and the customer said that the battery is charging now. When you repair any old electrical and electronic thing, the customer will give you some feedback that the work was done well or there is a problem or something like that, and then you have to repair it again.

I now have two power supplies and it seems to me that they act as resistances when the 220 volt input voltage is applied. Now I want to turn them on by adding resistances and MOSFETs.
