"Recipe Contest: My Kitchen, My Recipe, My Story-week-3 (Khichuri & Duck Egg Curry)"
My Fellow Steemian's,
I'm participating a contest about making a recipe hosted by @jimiaera02 ma'am. I hope everyone will like my recipe.
Today, my wife & I both had a day off from work. After waking up, we found heavy rain outside. Without thinking too much, we decided to cook Khichuri & Duck Egg Curry.
My wife & I both like Khichuri recipe very much. As we both are working person, we couldn't get always time to eat together our likeable food. In Bengali culture, rain & khichuri have a special relationship. When the sky becomes cloudy & rain starts pouring, khichuri somehow becomes the first food that comes to mind. This tradition goes back many generations. Perhaps it started from a simple need. During rainy days in the past, people wanted to prepare something with less effort, simple ingredients, & enough food for the whole family. Rice & pulse cooked together made khichuri a perfect choice. Slowly, this simple rainy day meal became part of Bengali culture.
First i washed Bashmoti rice & pulse properly with clean water. Then I lightly fried the pulse in soybean oil to bring out a nice aroma.
Next I chopped the onion, ginger, garlic, & green chilies on a chopping board.

Chopped Onion, Green Chili, Ginger & Garlic
After that, I put the washed rice & fried pulse into the rice cooker. We added soybean oil, chopped onion, ginger, garlic, green chilies, garam masala, bay leaves, cinnamon, cardamom, turmeric powder, cumin powder, cloves, & salt. Finally, I added the required amount of water & mixed everything well.
Ready to Cook
Then I switched on the rice cooker & let it cook for about 15-20 minutes. Once the rice & pulse were cooked properly & the mixture became soft & flavorful, my hot khichuri was ready to serve.
First I took four Duck eggs & boiled them in hot water for about 15 minutes. After boiling, I removed the shells & washed the eggs properly with clean water.
Meanwhile, the onion, ginger, garlic,& green chiies were chopped & kept ready.
Ingredients For Cooking
Then I heated some soybean oil in a frying pan & added the chopped onion, ginger, garlic, & green chilies. We also added red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, cinnamon, & salt. Everything was fried together until the spices became slightly brown & released a nice aroma.

Frying All the Ingredients in Fry Pan
After the spices were ready, I added the boiled duck eggs to the pan & mixed them properly with the curry.
Then I added some fresh water & let everything cook together for another 10-15 minutes. When the curry became thick & the aroma of the spices filled the kitchen, I turned off the gas stove & checked the curry.

Final Recipe of Duck Egg Curry
Then the Duck Egg Curry was ready to serve with my hot Khichuri, just perfect recipe for a rainy day.
