Hello friends,

How are you all doing?
I would be sharing with you my experience at a career programme I attended this year. I am hoping that you won't pass the opportunity to attend one if you're ever invited because I found it very educative.

On this day my morning started on an inspiring note as I attended the career program hosted at the University of Uyo. The atmosphere was intense; with so much anticipation as students, faculty, and special guests arrived at the venue for the occasion. The event was graced by distinguished personalities including the Vice Chancellor of the university, Deans of Facilities, Heads of Departments, and a Departmental Career Coaches. Their presence added weight to the program and underscored the university’s commitment to preparing students for life beyond the classroom. Throughout the session, we engaged in enlightening discussions on career development, employability, personal branding, and the evolving job market. The Career Coaches shared practical strategies for setting career goals, building a professional network, and staying competitive in today’s dynamic workplace.
It was an eye-opening experience and a reminder of the importance of being proactive about our future. I left the program feeling more focused, motivated, and equipped with knowledge to make informed career decisions moving forward.

Interestingly, I wasn't just an attendee, I also had a role to play. I served as the front desk officer at the event. My role included registration of participants and distribution of the programme of events and brochures to attendees.
Generally, the event was well attended. I was particularly impressed by the turn out of the students in spite of the fact that most of them were done with semester exams and could have been on vacation. This shows how important the career programme was to them.

The event was concluded with a motivating speech from the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academics, after which the music department lead in the school anthem to bring the even to a close.
Have you attended a career event before? What was your experience?
Please share with me in the comment section🤗
