TEXT: Matthew 11:6

And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

It is easy to be offended by God especially to a Believer that has committed his or her life, time, resources etc to the service of God. Almost everyone that comes to God, is doing so with expectation. People pray believing that there will be answers but almost everyone will have a story to tell with their experiences with God.

In our text, John the Baptist the fore runner who baptized Jesus, was sent to prison for preaching the gospel.
The answer of Jesus to the message of John did not match the question. Matthew 11:3 And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another? Perhaps Jesus saw the despair, the murmurings, the grumblings etc. Perhaps the question came after many days of doubt and complaint over how Jesus had neglected him.

The offense may not have come from the question but from his heart condition because out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks
Matthew 12:34
O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. Jesus saw what was in his heart more than the message he sent. Child of God, the offense starts in your heart. Satan will ask you, the year is about to end what do you have to show? Where is the benefit of serving God? Your prayer request since January has it been answered?

The next thing is for that Believer to be discouraged to pray. He or she will start coming to church late if at all he or she will come. Serving God is now in the past. Some Believers will say let me rest I started serving God from my childhood, there is nothing to show.
Jesus is saying you have been offended by him because what you thought you will get by now and where you thought you will be by now, you are yet to see them despite fasting and prayers.

When you are no more praying, when you no more have the zeal for the house of God, when you murmur over the things of God, then you are offended by God. Jesus said blessed is the man that is not offended in Him, the opposite of blessing is, curse is the man that is offended in me. The head of John the Baptist was cut off and given to a little girl in a charger. Matthew 14:10 And he sent, and beheaded John in the prison.
Even when they told Jesus, he said nothing.
Brethren, in the face of discouragement, unanswered prayers, sickness etc, look unto Jesus. Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

May God help us not to be offended by God in Jesus name...
