Royal Palace of Dinajpur

What kind of City Landmark Zone have you visited? Briefly introduce it.

I visited a historical city landmark zone called Dinajpur Rajbari. It is one of the oldest royal palaces in the northern region of Bangladesh, built in the 17th to 18th century by the zamindars of Dinajpur. This place was once used as the residence of the royal family and also as a center for administrative activities. When I visited, I saw many large buildings and architectural remains. Although most of the structures are now broken and damaged, the beauty and design can still be clearly understood. Even in its current condition, the place attracts many visitors because of its historical value. By visiting this place, I was able to learn about the lifestyle of the kings and how they used to live in the past. It gave me a clear idea of their royal and luxurious way of life. The environment here is very calm, beautiful, and full of history.

Main entry and Main view of royal Palace

To reach this place, you can come to Dinajpur city and then take a rickshaw or an easy bike. It is not easy to understand how big this palace is unless you visit it in person. I was really impressed by the surroundings and the overall atmosphere. From what I know, this palace was built by Maharaja Prannath and his son Ramnath. They also contributed a lot to the development of the Dinajpur region and left many historical landmarks for the people. Even though the buildings are now partly destroyed, it is still a wonderful place to visit and feel connected to history.

How were the services and history both inside and outside? (With pictures + prices, videos)

This Rajbari was built during the 17th to 18th century by Maharaja Prannath Roy. At that time, it served as an important administrative center of the region, where the zamindars managed all the affairs and accounts of their estate. Inside the Rajbari, there were several administrative buildings such as a durbar hall, mirror hall, library, and treasury. There were also temples and dedicated spaces for religious activities and prayers within the complex. Outside the Rajbari, there were large open fields, spacious gardens, big ponds, and multiple surrounding buildings that formed the entire estate.

However, over time, most of these structures have been destroyed, and only a few parts remain today as historical evidence of the past. After the partition of India in 1947, the zamindari system was abolished, and as a result, many such Rajbaris gradually fell into decay and became ruins. This Dinajpur Rajbari also followed the same path and lost much of its original structure. Even today, visiting this place gives a peaceful and pleasant experience. It is a great spot to explore historical remains and understand the lifestyle of the past. The environment is suitable for walking around, and it is also a nice place for taking photos and videos while enjoying the historical atmosphere.

What is the demand for tourists inside and outside the place?

The tourist demand for this historical landmark is moderate. It is not like modern tourist spots; rather, it is an ancient heritage site. Only people who truly love or are interested in historical places usually visit here. By visiting this Rajbari, one can get an idea of how the kings and zamindars of the past lived their royal lives, which is why this place is worth visiting. However, in today’s modern age, not everyone is interested in such places, and mainly history lovers come to explore it. Still, spending time here is quite enjoyable, as there are many open spaces and good spots for taking photos. Visitors can walk around freely and enjoy the peaceful environment. Overall, a decent number of tourists visit this place, especially those who value historical heritage and like to preserve its memory. Many visitors also come here for photography because the environment is suitable, and the old buildings of the zamindar era look very attractive and impressive.

I can share my full-day experience after visiting Dinajpur Rajbari. It is a very large royal palace, much bigger than anything I have seen before. When I first went there, I did not realize how huge it was. After entering, I saw that it is a multi-storey and very spacious complex. While walking around, I started wondering whether so many rooms were actually occupied by people in the past or if they were just built like that.

Seeing so many buildings made me really amazed and a bit thoughtful. Since the structures were built, there must have been many people living there during that time. Although the Rajbari is very old and many of its buildings are now damaged, it is clear that it was once a grand and important place. I feel that the authorities should take proper steps to repair and preserve it so that future generations can also see and learn from it. I really enjoyed my visit here. I was impressed by the different designs and patterns on the buildings, and I kept wondering how such beautiful structures were built in that era. There are also many surrounding structures around the Rajbari, which attract many visitors every day. Overall, it was a wonderful experience for me, and the place left a strong impression on my mind.
