Hello great steemians across the Globe. How are you all doing today? I trust you are all doing good. Welcome to another health session with yours truly @donsultan.

Today I want to talk about something very common, but something many people do not take seriously.

HEADACHE

Almost everybody has had headache before. Some people get it once in a while. Some people get it often. And what do many of us do? We just take painkillers and move on.

But the truth is, headache is not always just ordinary pain. Sometimes it is your body sending you a message. Sometimes it is a small warning sign before a bigger health problem shows up.

That is why repeated headache should not be ignored.

Headache is not a Disease on its Own

One important thing to understand is this: headache is usually a symptom, not a disease.
In simple English, it means something else may be causing it.
Your headache may be connected to:

  • dehydration
  • hunger or skipping meals
  • poor sleep
  • too much stress
  • eye strain from too much screen time
  • high blood pressure
  • infection
  • too much use of painkillers

That is why it is not wise to always treat headache the same way. Two people can have the same pain, but the cause may be different.

One Common Cause: Not Drinking Enough Water

This is one of the most common causes of headache.

When your body does not get enough water, blood circulation can be affected, and your brain may not function as well as it should. The result can be headache, dizziness, weakness, and poor concentration.

Some people go through the whole day drinking only tea, soft drinks, or energy drinks, but very little water. That is not enough.

Signs that dehydration may be contributing to your headache include:

  • dry mouth
  • dark yellow urine
  • tiredness
  • dizziness
  • feeling weak
  • headache that improves after drinking water

Water may look too simple, but lack of it can cause real stress inside the body.

Hunger Headache Is Also Real

Another common cause is not eating well.

Your brain needs a steady supply of glucose to work properly. When you skip meals or stay too long without eating, your blood sugar can drop. When that happens, headache can start.
Some people leave home early without breakfast. Some are too busy to eat on time. Some take only biscuits or sweet drinks and call it food. Later in the day, the headache starts.

This kind of headache may come with:

  • shaking
  • weakness
  • bad mood
  • poor focus
  • tiredness

That is why regular meals matter. Your body needs fuel, especially if you are active during the day.

Poor Sleep And Too Much Screen Time

Sleep is another big factor.
If you sleep late and wake up early every day, your body will complain. One way it complains is through headache. Poor sleep affects the brain, mood, concentration, and body repair.

In the same way, too much time on phone or laptop can strain your eyes and tighten the muscles around your head and neck. That can also trigger headache.

This is very common these days because many people spend hours pressing phone, watching screen, chatting, or working online without enough rest.

Simple things that can help include:

  • sleeping early when possible
  • reducing screen time at night
  • resting your eyes during the day
  • taking short breaks while working

Small habits like this can reduce headache a lot.

When Headache May Be More Serious

Not every headache is dangerous, but some should never be ignored.

One major example is high blood pressure.

High blood pressure is often called a silent killer because many people have it and do not know. Sometimes repeated headache, especially with dizziness, blurred vision, or pounding at the back of the head, may be a sign.

Headache can also be more serious if it comes with:

  • fever
  • neck stiffness
  • confusion
  • weakness in one arm or leg
  • difficulty speaking
  • vomiting
  • fainting
  • chest pain

If any of these happen, please do not manage it at home. Seek medical help immediately.

The Danger Of Depending Only On Painkillers

Painkillers can help for a short time, but they are not always the answer.

If you keep taking paracetamol, ibuprofen, or other drugs every time your head aches without finding the real cause, you may create another problem for yourself.

Frequent use of painkillers can lead to:

  • stomach irritation
  • ulcers
  • kidney damage
  • medication overuse headache

Yes, even painkillers themselves can start causing repeated headache when used too often.

So instead of swallowing drugs every day, it is better to ask: why is this headache always coming back?

What You Should Do

Here are simple things that can help:

  1. Drink enough water daily
Try not to wait until you are very thirsty.

  2. Eat regular meals
Do not skip food for too long.

  3. Sleep properly
Your brain and body need rest.

  4. Reduce too much screen exposure
Rest your eyes and stretch your body.

  5. Manage stress
Stress can tighten muscles and trigger headache.

  6. Check your blood pressure
Especially if the headache is frequent.

  7. See a doctor if it keeps happening
Repeated headache should be properly assessed.

Final Thoughts

Headache is common, yes. But repeated headache should not be treated like a normal everyday thing.

Your body speaks before bigger damage happens. Pain is one of the ways it speaks. So when your head keeps aching, do not only think of painkillers. Think of the possible cause.

Ask yourself:

  • Have I been drinking enough water?
  • Did I eat properly today?
  • Have I been sleeping well?
  • Am I too stressed?
  • When last did I check my blood pressure?

Sometimes the answer is in your daily habits. Sometimes it is a medical issue that needs proper attention.

Either way, the wise thing is to listen to your body early.
