Some time ago, I had the opportunity to visit the Syamtalira Aron sub-district office in North Aceh Regency. I attended and witnessed the inauguration of the geuchik (village head), a crucial moment in village governance, marking the beginning of a new mandate for the elected village leader.

Upon arrival, the sub-district office was bustling with invited guests, village officials, community leaders, religious leaders, and residents who had come to support the newly inaugurated village head. The sub-district office hall served as the center of the event, which proceeded solemnly and with a sense of togetherness. Geuchik inaugurations are often held in the sub-district office hall as part of the governmental process at the sub-district level.

The inauguration ceremony proceeded in an orderly manner, beginning with the reading of the decree, the taking of the oath of office, and the signing of the minutes. This moment was truly memorable, demonstrating the importance of trustworthy leadership in developing and serving the village community. In various governmental activities, the Syamtalira Aron sub-district office also serves as a coordination center between the sub-district government and the villages within its jurisdiction.

For me, this visit provided a valuable experience, as I was able to witness firsthand the inauguration of a village head who will assume significant responsibility for the advancement of his village. Furthermore, such activities also serve as a forum for strengthening the relationship between the government and the community.
