Inspecting the Orchard and Assessing Pest Damage

This video was taken yesterday when I visited an orchard located at the far end of our village, across the stream. The orchard has several varieties of apple trees. Since I pay close attention to such things, I inspected the trees carefully and noticed that insect pests had heavily attacked many of them. I had gone there specifically to assess whether spraying was necessary, and after observing the situation, it became clear that treatment was indeed required.

However, weather forecasts indicate rainfall over the next two or three days, so spraying will have to wait until the rain passes. The pesticides we use are quite expensive, and spraying before rain would be wasteful because the chemicals could simply wash off the trees. Dry weather with little or no chance of rain is always the most suitable time for spraying.

Afterward, I walked through the entire orchard. We have also planted garlic and onions there. The onions are currently producing seed heads. The round white flower clusters visible in the video are onion flowers that are now developing seeds. We plan to use some of these seeds ourselves in the future and sell the surplus as well. Onion seeds usually fetch a good price, making them an additional source of income.

You may also notice that some leaves have lost their healthy green color and turned yellow. This is another sign of pest infestation. Spraying is essential because if these insects are left unchecked, they can weaken the trees significantly, reduce production, and in severe cases even cause the trees to dry up. Watching the video will give you a better idea of the condition of the orchard and the challenges the trees are currently facing.
