I hope everyone is doing well. Today I would like to share my experience of visiting Rangpur Zoo, one of the largest and most popular zoos in the northern region of Bangladesh.

I have visited this zoo several times throughout my life. It is a place full of wonderful memories because I visited it both during my childhood and after growing up. Every visit has been enjoyable and has given me the opportunity to observe many fascinating wild animals from a close distance.

Location & Accessibility

Rangpur Zoo is located in Rangpur City, Bangladesh. It is well connected by road, making it easy to reach by bus, private car, motorcycle, auto-rickshaw, or CNG. The zoo is one of the most popular recreational destinations for families, students, and tourists visiting Rangpur.

Entrance Fee & Visitor Information

The entrance fee is very affordable. A general visitor ticket costs 25 BDT, while students can enter for only 10 BDT. Children under five years of age can enter free of charge.

The zoo features spacious walking paths, well-maintained animal enclosures, beautiful green surroundings, and resting areas where visitors can relax during their visit.

Zoo Rules & Safety

The zoo authority has displayed clear rules and regulations for visitors. Every visitor must purchase a valid ticket before entering. Entering without a ticket may result in a fine of up to 2,000 BDT.

Visitors are also requested not to tease, injure, or feed the animals without permission. Violating these rules may lead to fines or legal action. These regulations help ensure the safety of both visitors and animals while maintaining a peaceful environment inside the zoo.

Beautiful Environment

The environment inside the zoo is clean, peaceful, and filled with greenery. Large trees provide shade along the walking paths, making it comfortable to explore even during sunny days.

Beautiful flowers near the entrance create a pleasant first impression. I also noticed dustbins placed throughout the zoo, which encourages visitors to keep the surroundings clean.

Bird Collection

The zoo has several species of birds. I especially enjoyed watching the colorful budgerigars and the beautiful Indian peafowl. Each enclosure has an information board that helps visitors learn more about the birds and their natural characteristics.

Wild Animals

One of the biggest attractions of Rangpur Zoo is its diverse collection of wild animals. Visitors have the opportunity to observe many fascinating species, including the Royal Bengal Tiger, hippopotamus, zebra, monkeys, deer, horses, cassowary, Indian civet, donkey, and several other animals.

Seeing these animals from a close distance is both exciting and educational, especially for children who usually know them only from books or television. As I walked through the zoo, I spent a good amount of time observing the different enclosures.

Each enclosure is designed according to the needs of the animals, providing enough space for them to move around comfortably. Information boards placed near many of the enclosures help visitors learn about the animals, including their scientific names, natural habitats, food habits, and other interesting facts. I found these boards very useful because they made the visit more informative as well as enjoyable.

The Royal Bengal Tiger was one of the most impressive animals in the zoo. Watching such a powerful predator from a safe distance was an unforgettable experience. The hippopotamus was also fascinating to watch as it rested comfortably in its enclosure, while the zebra attracted many visitors with its beautiful black-and-white striped coat.

I also enjoyed watching the deer, which looked calm and friendly. Some of them even came close to the fence when visitors approached. The horses were peacefully grazing, creating a relaxing atmosphere, while the playful Rhesus monkeys kept entertaining visitors with their energetic movements. The unusual appearance of the cassowary and the shy nature of the Indian civet also made them interesting animals to observe.

Overall, the wild animal section offers an enjoyable and educational experience for visitors of all ages. It allows people to appreciate the beauty and diversity of wildlife while developing a greater understanding of the importance of protecting these amazing animals and their natural habitats.

Resting Area

The zoo covers a large area, so exploring every section takes time. Fortunately, several seating areas are available where visitors can relax before continuing their journey. These resting places make the overall experience much more comfortable for families and elderly visitors.

My Experience

Every visit to Rangpur Zoo reminds me of my childhood memories. It is one of the best places in northern Bangladesh to observe a wide variety of wild animals in a single location.

Walking through the green pathways, watching different animals, reading the information boards, and spending quality time with family always make the visit enjoyable. Even after walking around the large zoo for several hours, the seating areas provide a comfortable place to rest before continuing the tour.

Overall, I had another memorable experience and would love to visit again in the future.

Final Thoughts

In my opinion, Rangpur Zoo is an excellent destination for families, students, wildlife enthusiasts, and photographers. It offers a wonderful opportunity to learn about different animal species while enjoying a clean, peaceful, and natural environment.

If you ever visit Rangpur, I highly recommend spending a few hours exploring this zoo. It is a place where education, recreation, and nature come together to create a memorable experience for visitors of all ages.
