My Drawing tutorial Journey — Step by Step drawing of a boy with sword

Today I am sharing with you a simple pencil drawing of of a very unique and amazing character of Disney movie a boy holding a sword. I have tried my best to create a boy character in this picture who is wearing warm big size clothes and a long scarf and is standing with sharp swords in hand. Drawing for me is not just drawing lines on paper but a beautiful way to give shape to my idea.

To complete this drawing I slowly shaped the character going through different stages.

Step 1: Name and Date

First I wrote my name/identity and date on the top of the paper to save the day of completion of the drawing.

This small step helps me preserve each of my drawings as a memory.

Step 2: Outline the face

After that I started to draw the very basic shape of the face outline with a HB pencil. First I carefully outlined the hair, forehead, eye, nose and mouth area with light lines.

Later that I find it easier to keep the lines very light in the beginning because that way I can correct them if I make a mistake in part of drawing.

Step 3: Neck and Scarf

After the face I made the scarf part under the neck. I paid special attention to the folds and edges of the scarf to show it wrapped around the character.

Dress Making

This part began to give a certain style to the drawing and the character's personality also became more evident.

Step 4: Body and Dress

Now I completed the outline of the shoulders, arms and long dress. Here the effort was to make the body position look natural and the layers of the clothing should also be clear.

I felt at this stage that the initial sketch was slowly turning into a full character.

Step 5: Swords

I then worked on the character's hands and swords. Getting the long straight lines of the swords and the position of the hands right was an important part of this drawing for me.

After this part, the style of the character became more prominent than before.

Step 6: Final Details

Finally I added the details for the legs, shoes and the rest of the dress. Resharpened the pencil lines in some places to make the whole picture look clearer.

Now my drawing was complete.

My Inspiration

My original and main inspiration behind this drawing was to create a complete character on a simple piece of paper with just using a simple pencil. I especially like that when I creating a new drawing, the result is not known at the beginning. With each new line the picture becomes a little clearer.

Sometimes the first attempt doesn't turn out exactly as we thought in our minds, but that's what gives us the opportunity to do better and better in next move to try again when we try again and again. I think mastery in art is not only about making good drawings but also about patience, observation and constant practice.

This little drawing of mine may not be a great artistic creation, but it certainly preserves a moment of my hard work and learning. I would also like to try different roles and new styles in the future.
