Ramadan Mubarak Day 10: To All Faithful Muslim Steemians

Alhamdulilahi, the crescent moon was sighted in Nigeria on Tuesday evening, the 17^th of February, 2026. The location where the moon sighting committee found the crescent moon is Nguru, in YobeState, after verification by the Sultan of Sokoto, who is the president-general of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs. Upon announcement, all the faithful Muslims started to fast the next day, which is the 18^th of February, 2026.

Ramadan is one of the Islamic months where Muslims, especially adults, are expected to abstain from all illicit acts such as adultery, smoking, drinking, and eating from dawn to sunset.

We thank God; this Ramadan is the 10^th day today, which shows that it is now gradually coming to an end. Everything is easier in Islam. An elderly Muslim, a traveller from one state to another, sick people, and pregnant or breastfeeding women are exempt, but they would later fast the remaining days at their own convenience. This month is considered the holy month where the Quran was revealed to the Prophet, so that it can be our guardian.

The most important aspects of this holiest month are described below.

➡️Suhoor and Iftar: Suhoor is the predawn meal that Muslims must eat before continuing fasting during Ramadan, whereas Iftar is the food we take to break the fast after sunset, which we eat with our family in order to promote unity.

➡️Reading of the glorious Quran: Reading the Quran in this holy month is very important because it helps us move closer to the Almighty Allah as well as gain rewards on each Ayah we read.

➡️Charity: Allah has blessed Muslims with the obligation of giving zakat to the poor. In fact, during this holy month, Muslims normally assist those who are less privileged because they understand the importance of earning enormous rewards for doing that.

➡️Laylat al-Qadr: This usually occurs when the Ramadan remaining 10 days of Ramadan are about to be completed. Faithful Muslims perform solat at the middle of the night in order to seek forgiveness and to also purify their hearts.

Muslims value this month, and in some offices in Nigeria, work hour is reduced. Whereas some schools in northern states of Nigeria are not allow their pupils to go school, after Ramadan period they will now resume school activities.
