SCS32-W3 || Real Life Problem Solving Challenge: Time Management
Greetings friends and welcome to my blog. Time management is a very important part of our lives. Time cannot be saved. It can only be spent well. How we spend our time determines how productive our lives will be.
How do you organize your daily schedule? |

Managing my daily schedule is very important to me because I have a lot of responsibilities daily that require my attention. To stay organized daily, I use a combination of my daily to do list which I write in a notebook and my phone alarms.
Before I sleep in the night, I usually write down in my to do notebook the tasks I need to accomplish the previous day. I arrange this tasks according to the order of priority starting with the most important ones.
I add time duration to each of these tasks and tick them off whenever I finish each task. Before I do not add time duration to my to do list and sometimes I slack on doing some of them and some get carried over but adding time to my to do list keeps me on my toes to ensure I stick to time to finish each task. This method helps me to stay focused on the day’s task and gives me a sense of accomplishment.

In addition to my notebook, I also use alarms to remind me of some of the importance activities starting from my waking up. My alarm rings at 5am every morning for wake up time and also subsequently about other important tasks such as my content creation, study times, some meetings I have and other commitments.
These alarms which I obviously label helps me stay on track along with my to do list to ensure some of the tasks do not encroach into the time for others.
My daily schedules includes:
- My morning planning and review of tasks.
- Real estate content creation and research.
- Learning new skills related to real estate and digital marketing.
- My personal studies and reading.
- Doing household responsibilities and other personal activities.
Combining the use of my to do list with time duration assigned to each task and alarms has helped me to be more disciplined and productive because I always know what needs to be done and when it should be done.

What is the most important activity in your day that takes up the most of your time and is also essential? |

The activity that takes up most of my time daily and that’s very important to me is my real estate content creation, skill acquisition on the same area and studies on real estate and other topics.
As someone who is into real estate, I spend a significant part of my day creating educational and promotional contents on real estate for posting on different social media platforms.
This always involves researching topics, writing content scripts, recording videos, editing content, and engaging with my audience.
Apart from content creation, I also dedicate my time to learning more about the real estate industry. I study market trends, property investment strategies, sales techniques, and digital marketing skills that can help me become more effective in the industry.
These activities are important to me as they help me to grow personally, and also help my carrier development. These contents helps to make my brand more visible, increases my knowledge and also increases my professional value.
Normally I spend hours on these researches, studying, recording videos and also editing them. I also make out time to read books on other topics such as motivational books and spiritual books. I love to read a lot. I do alot of reading both on my laptop, on my phone and sometimes I read hardcover books.

What is the technique that saves you time? |

I know that time is limited hence a technique that saves me a lot of time is planning my tasks ahead and then grouping similar activities together.
Instead of coming into a particular day and thinking of what to do, I create my todo list before hand. This helps me to reduce the time I will spend thinking of what to do next as I have them already planned out so I move directly into action.
I also batch similar activities for example when I create my real estate content, I research several topics at once, write multiple scripts together and then record more than one video at a time. Sometimes I do up to ten short videos in two hours.
This helps me to avoid frequently switching between tasks and hence improves my efficiency.
Another helpful technique is using my phone alarms and reminders like I said earlier, it reminds me to transition smoothly between activities and ensure that I complete the task on schedule.These simple habits help me save time, stay productive, and reduce unnecessary distractions.

Have you ever struggled with poor time management? How have you improved it? |

Yes, I have struggled with poor time management in the past. There were times when I would start my day without a clear plan. As a result, I spent too much time on activities that are not important and often procrastinated on the important tasks.
Sometimes I get distracted by social media and lack of prioritizing my tasks, made me to not meet up with deadlines and then I end up feeling overwhelmed by the tasks I was not able to finish.
Therefore I realized that if I was to achieve my goals and perform better, I would have to come up with a better system to manage my time.
So I started using a notebook to write down my daily to do list and add time duration to them. I also began setting alarms and reminders for important activities. Most importantly, I learned to place the tasks according to their order of importance and urgency.
With time, I became more organized and productive due to these changes. So now I clearly understand how I can spend my time more wisely so as to be able to accomplish my tasks better and on time.
Although I still face some challenges occasionally and sometimes I have emergencies that are unplanned that take some of my time but my time management skills have improved significantly compared to before.
The biggest lesson I have learnt is that managing my time effectively is not about being busy all the time. It’s about focusing on the activities that matter the most.
What advice would you give to others to manage their time better? |

I would give the following practical advice to others for them to be able to mange their time better:
- Plan Your Day in Advance: They should write down their tasks for the next day the night before or very early in the morning as it would help them to stay organized and focused through the day.
- Prioritize Important Tasks: They should identify the tasks that are most important and do them before they move over to the less important ones. Their tasks should be arranged in the order of priority.
- Use Reminders and Alarms: Technology come sun very handy and helpful this period therefore they should use reminders or alarms for their tasks and other important activities.
- Avoid Unnecessary Distractions: They should limit how they use social media, watch television and their engagement in other activities that consume their time but do not add value to them.
- Break Large Tasks into Smaller Steps: They can break big tasks or projects into smaller tasks as this makes it easier to accomplish.
- Review Your Progress Daily: At the end of the day, they should review what they accomplished and look out for areas where they can improve.
- Be Consistent: They should be consistent with their good time management habits because the little actions we take everyday can produce significant results over time.
In conclusion, when we manage our time effectively it helps us to achieve our goals, reduce stress, and become more productive. When we plan our activities, stay disciplined and focus on carrying our important tasks first, we make better use of our time daily.
