One Picture, One Story (STARTING AGAIN)
Hello Steemit friends!
It’s time for another entry in the “One Picture, One Story” series. Today’s picture inspired a tale of reflection and mystery. Here’s my story:
STARTING AGAIN
Since morning rain had been falling, swept the streets off and wrote quite reflections on the way . A city , normally loud and restless , seemed to take a brief break as if it needed time to breathe. In the midst of it all there was one streetlight which shone softly not so bright against a grey sky.
To most people, it seemed just another rainy day. Just another reason to hurry back home. Just one more excuse for grumbling. But to Ayo, it was not so.
He positioned himself under the light with an old notebook hugging him tightly. Inside it were dreams he had penned many years before—plans, ideas, hopes that once lit up his chest. somehow lost on or shortly after he went down the path of life. Responsibilities overtook ambition Leninism. Fear took the place of confidence.
That night, the rain recalled to him all that he had endeavored to blot out.
Every drop was a question, it seemed:
When did you start doubting yourself?
When did you start selling yourself short?
The street was abandoned, but his mind was filled with ideas. He recalled the days in his past that he’d spent up late pursuing goals, teaching himself new skills and dreaming of better things. At the time, failure wasn’t something he was scared of performing — it was something he absorbed.
Standing there now, alone and cold and soaked, he came to an important insight.
He hadn’t failed.
He had only paused.
Slowly, Ayo opened his notebook. Some pages were torn. Some words were faded. But the dreams were here, yet; they lay in wait. Patient. Alive.
He picked up his pen with quivering hands and wrote anew.
Not because everything was perfect.
Not because success was guaranteed.
But retiring was no longer really an option.
The rain continued to fall. The streetlight continued to shine. And in that silence, a shattered dream began to mend.
Sometimes a silent night is all we need to remember who we are.
And sometimes, starting again is the bravest thing that we can do.
