‎Hello everyone on Steemit! It's me again, @emmaboy23, and I am excited to share another pencil drawing sketch with you all today. This drawing was a little different from some of my usual portraits because I wanted to capture more than just a person's face. I wanted the sketch to give the feeling of a man sitting behind the wheel, surrounded by the darker interior of a car. I wanted to approach this drawing slowly rather than rushing to the finished result. So in this post, I will share how I went through the different stages of creating it with my pencil.

step-by-step process

Step 1

‎I started with a very light sketch of the head. At this point, I wasn't thinking about detailed hair or realistic skin. My main concern was getting the size and position of the face right.

Step 2

‎After getting the basic structure, I began developing the eyes. I used darker strokes around the eyebrows and eyelids while keeping the inside of the eyes relatively light. Next came the nose. Instead of outlining every part strongly, I relied on shading to show its shape.

Step 3

‎next I gradually built shadows around the cheeks, eyes, nose, and lower part of the face. I tried not to press too hard immediately. Building the darkness little by little gave me better control over the result.

Step 4

‎Next I focused on the hair; I used repeated pencil strokes in the direction that the hair was flowing. Some strokes were darker and thicker, while others were lighter. Rather than making the entire hair one solid black area, I allowed small portions of the paper to remain visible.

Step 5

‎Once the drawing itself was taking shape, I turned my attention to the surrounding area. I wanted viewers to understand that the man was inside a vehicle. I used heavier shading around the lower part of the drawing and in some areas behind the subject.

Step 6

‎Finally, I checked the entire portrait and corrected a few areas that needed attention. I added some extra strokes to the hair, adjusted the shadows on the face, and strengthened parts of the car interior. Below is my final result.

‎This drawing was a good exercise for me because it allowed me to practice several things at once—facial proportions, hair texture, shading, contrast, and creating a background. I am still learning with every sketch I make, and I know there are areas I can improve. That is what makes drawing exciting for me. There is always another technique to practice and another idea waiting to be put on paper. Thank you for visiting my post and following this drawing process with me, Steemians. I hope you all liked it.

@emmaboy23 🍁What caught my eye the most in this drawing? The way a person looks at you is a person sitting in a car. holding a medal. driving. You have drawn the drawing very neatly. You must have really mastered this drawing. You worked very hard to make it. You must have worked very hard to explain each step. I really liked your post. How did you design the man hair? You covered the face very well. You have drawn every little thing very beautifully. The viewer will say that someone made this drawing🫠.Thank you very much for sharing your post with me.

Thanks for your nice comment on my post
