The Diary Game: COOKING TO SURPRISE OUR MEMBERS AND WORKERS AT THE CHURCH SITE AND THE CHALLENGE OF THE DAY : 08/04/2026

Hello Steemians. Consistently, I have been sharing my daily records of activities involving the development of our church permanent site. I want you all to be part of what is happening as members are so committed to helping the church not to spend on workers to an extent. It is only the experts that are not available we engage financially. The progress recorded is very significant in just a few days.

Yesterday I didn't go to the site on time, but when I called to check on them I was told few people were there working and thought it wise to surprise everyone. Some of them wouldn't believe I could cook anyway. Since my wife was born, I have been doing special things that I don't used to doing when I am around.

I was making sauce with fresh tomatoes 🍅 and fresh fishes for myself. That was what I craved for that morning 🌄. I was like, let me surprise them. So, I increased the quantity of rice and the sauce condiments. I hurriedly prepared it and about 11:15am I went to the site, meanwhile I got a bag of sachets of water along the way.

Went to Urua Etok (a close daily market) to buy tomatoes and fish to cook for workers

Men at work, that was how I saw them, none of them were without doing anything. It was clear that everyone wanted to see the work in progress, which has been achieved. Immediately I arrived they saw the bag that was unusual “sir what are you carrying, I hope it is something for us?” I smiled with joy that my effort made sense by their curiosity.

Food is moving to the site

I handed over the sack back, containing the white rice and sauces, well prepared for them. One of them had gone out to buy akara, bread and water too and they started with that one as apathizer, continuing the work and about 2 to 3 hours later all were exhausted and hunger was possible for all including myself. At this point, the food was served.

I was highly elated with the comments that the food tasted good. The love and unity of sharing the little food ❤ ️ made it a real fellowship even in the place of work.

I joined to mix the cement and carried blocks to the workmen who were laying the blocks. Our concentration is on raising pillars and starting worship there while we continue to build the church.

• Some youths came to the site and wanted to halt the work under an amount paid to them. I stepped into the matter, which took me to see the village head, and it was settled amicably. The church had started a move in that direction, but the youth chairman wasn't aware if I may say so.
• Heavy rain interrupted the work at some point. We tried to withstand it, but it was too much to continue. Everyone ran to the available shades, and it took over an hour for the rain to subside.

After it rained at night already, the workmen managed with phonelight to finish the already mixed cement to avoid wasting the resources. I left the land at about 8:21pm with others. I was already soaked in the rain, on getting home, I went straight to the bed and sleep took over me.
