The Diary Game: || FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL RESUMPTION AND MANAGEMENT BOARD MEETING: HOW MY DAY WENT || 5/1/2026

Happy new week and still new year to all the Steemians. We also thank God for the gift of life. The school runs have officially begun as school resumed today. Waking up very early every day to prepare my son is inevitable. Moreover, I am a chaplain, a teacher and a student. Putting all of this in perspective, it will be very hectic, but then I have to manage myself and my time to accommodate rest to avoid breaking down. I was enjoying the short holiday anyway.

Devotional Guide

MORNING - SCHOOL RUNS STARTED

I set an alarm to wake me up at 4am, but then I could not control my sleep until 5:30am. We had our morning prayer with the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria devotional guide, day 5. The topic for today was “COVENANT RENEWAL - CHOOSE WHO YOU WILL SERVE” with text drawn from Joshua 24:14-28. The devotional guide encouraged us to choose wisely and let our decisions be guided by the Holy Spirit and the wisdom of God, just like Joshua covenanted that he and his household would serve the Almighty God.

We raised prayers of thanksgiving, mercy and protection and asked God to provide for our needs by faith. By 6:07am, we were done with the prayers, and I quickly took the boy to the bathroom and prepared him for school while the mother was producing aromatic smoke from the powerhouse (kitchen). Before 6:45am, all were set as I arranged his school uniform, shoes, and bag to let him know that school had resumed.

We set out to the road where the school bus carried him to the pre-nursery at the churchyard, while the main section is located in Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo. I got to school to see very few pupils and teachers. I guessed they are still enjoying the holiday, or some are not yet back in town. I didn't do much more than see how things are put in place for the second term; others were cleaning the classes and offices. I was in school until 1:30pm.

AFTERNOON/EVENING - MANAGEMENT MEETING

Having Management BoardMeeting</>

The management board of the school scheduled a meeting for 2pm in which we deliberated the way forward and further strengthened areas, as a few staff who left for further studies needed to be replaced. The report of the school was received from the head teacher, while the cashier gave the financial breakdown. The highpoint of the meeting was the salary increment of staff. The meeting dragged to 5:47pm.

The Banana I bought and using it to eat Rice

Sacking News

I was very hungry and famished; therefore, on my way home I bought a banana. My wife served me a sumptuous rice and stew, which I used to eat the banana. After I finished eating, while trying to rest a little, I saw on the news that Manchester United had sacked their head coach, Ruben Amorim, after 14 months. It was sad but good news. Sad for his fans and good news for me because I was tired of losing and drawing matches that would've been a win for the club with his stubborn 3:4:2:1 formation and playing players out of their positions. I wish him well in his next managerial career; meanwhile, Daren Fletcher has been announced on an interim basis.

EGYPT AND NIGERIA QUALIFIED FOR THE QUARTER-FINAL

AFCON Matches

The sports news took off sleep from my heavy eyes; that was when I changed channel to follow up on AFCON as Egypt defeated the Republic of Benin 🇧🇯 by 3:1, with Mohammed Salah slotting the third before the final whistle. Nigeria 🇳🇬 versus Mozambique 🇲🇿 kicked off by 8pm. In the first few minutes of the game, Victor Osimhen found the back of the net, but the flag was raised for an offside position before he scored again at 25 minutes of the game after Lookman opened the scoring in the 20th minute. I was enjoying the match when the electricity was interrupted. I was angry, but I had to start preparing for an online prayer we are running for 5 nights now, and then I bathed and went to bed.

TODAY'S HIGHLIGHTS

  1. School resumed, and my son went to the house to miss his troubles for hours.
  2. Having a successful management board meeting at school.
  3. The Sacking news of Manchester United.Nigeria winning brought joy to all of us.
  4. Nigeria qualification for quarter final in AFCON.

HAPPY BLESSED NEW YEAR
