SCS32-W5 | Real-Life Problem Solving Challenge: Study Techniques
Greetings everyone,
What study technique do you often use, and how effective is it? |
|---|
Since I am studying Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), there is pressure to study in my regular life. So that I do not feel that pressure too much, I follow some rules in my studies.
Active Recall: When Sir or Ma'am teaches a topic in class, I try to remember it when I come to the room. If I do not remember it, I watch it a few times and then close my eyes and try to remember it again.
Pomodoro Technique: I try to take a break in between reading. I normally do not read continuously, but take some time to rest.
Short notes: I take notes of the topics that Sir or Ma'am teaches in class. I take notes of where to start reading in my small diary, which sends a signal to my brain when to finish reading.
What is the biggest distraction that affects your studies, and how do you control it? |
|---|
Currently, the biggest distraction for me is my mobile phone and social media. I try to stay away from them as much as possible.
How I control it:
- Keep my phone in silent mode while studying. So that the sound of notifications does not ruin your focus on studying.
- Keep my phone away from the table.
- Use social media at specific times, such as in the afternoon.
- Study in a quiet environment (especially in the morning)
What is one good habit that helps you improve your academic performance? |
|---|
My most important habit is to revise my reading regularly. Because in our university, there are labs and assignments along with classes. So if regular reading is not revised, there is a possibility of forgetting. Also, when our class tests are held, if I do not organize my reading, I get stressed. That is why I try to organize my reading as much as possible.
What I do every day:
- I revise the reading of the class every day on the same day.
- I keep track of the reading for the next class.
- I organize all my notebooks and pens before class.
These habits have increased my confidence and helped me remember what I read well.
Explain any digital tools, apps, or resources that you commonly use for study. |
|---|
I use some important tools for studying. Since there are many students in the class, reading is not that easy to learn. That's why I try to understand the subject by watching tutorials on YouTube. Besides, I use ChatGPT and Gemini to understand important information from the slides that the sir or mam gives. This increases my reading speed several times. What used to take three hours to learn to read is now done in one hour.
Our topic-based slides are given on Google Classroom and Telegram. These two apps are used regularly. Since our sir or mam teaches from the slides, I have to organize my reading from the slides.
Since I am an engineering student, it is not possible to solve many complex math problems by hand every day. That's why I use a scientific calculator (FX991 Ex). I can solve math very easily with this calculator.
All of the tools I mentioned above are used in my regular life, and my learning speed has increased a lot because of these tools.
What advice would you give to students who struggle with anxiety and depression during their studies? |
|---|
Some of my suggestions are mentioned here:
Take breaks: Instead of studying for a long time, take breaks from time to time to study. This way, you will not feel bored while studying. You will also remember what you read.
Talk(Family or someone else): Sometimes you feel stressed due to studying for a long time. For which you can talk to your family or your friends. This will give you some relief.
Pray regularly: No matter what religion you belong to, pray regularly to get close to God. If you belong to another religion, go to a temple or church and pray.
Exercise regularly: As the saying goes, everything is fine if your health is good first. If you are sick, you will not be able to study. Therefore, exercise regularly. This will help reduce your mental stress.
I want to express my gratitude to the organizer of this amazing challenge.
I'm inviting @emranhasan,@limon001, and @emuhasan to join this contest. I will be back with a new post soon. Stay healthy and strong.

Staying away from social media during study time is a great habit. Regular revision and proper organization are also powerful keys to academic success. Your advice about taking breaks, talking to family, praying, and exercising is very meaningful and helpful for students facing stress and anxiety.Keep working hard and believing in yourself. Every small effort you make today will build a stronger and brighter future. Wishing you great success in your engineering journey

¡Holaaa amigo!🤗
