The Dairy Game: Attending a Friend's Child Dedication [19-1-2026]

Yesterday was such a blessed Sunday as my friend, Rosemary, took her first son to church for christianing and dedication. In Nigeria and in christiandom, it is customary that once a child is born, 3 months after, the child should be taken to church for prayers and dedication of the child to the Almighty God.

I woke up that morning, prepared and went to church. Church program proceeded as usual till it was time dor the dedication. The pastor in charge took time to explain to the new parents their duties in the life of the child. Telling them to always correct the child when he insults or wrong elderly people, to teach him the right way, and make sure he grows in the temple of God.

Not too long, the church was filled with dancing and rejoicing over the celebration of the new born baby. It was indeed a joyful moment and the parents were so happy. People donated money to the child and the parents thanked them promising to use the money for the upbringing of their son.

After the service, few of my friends I went with stepped out to take few pictures with the mother of the child. We teased jer for become a mother and the responsibility now on her head. She was all smiles as she was so happy. We got refreshments in form of drinks and food and we all went home afterwards.
