The Diary Game: [20/08/2026] Working Long Nights, Quiet Triumphs.
Hello Steemit fam! 👋
welcome to another episode of my dairy session I still remain your @madoshi, Today was one of those days that tested my patience, my energy, and honestly, my ability to function on very little sleep. Let me take you through it. It all started the night before. I had a major presentation due this morning, and my drawings were nowhere near finished. So I did what every architecture student knows all too well I pulled an all-nighter. Pencil in hand, scaled ruler by my side, I sat hunched over my drawing board for hours, trying to get every line, every detail, as close to perfect as I could. By the time I finally looked up, the sky outside had already started turning that soft grey-blue that tells you morning is close. I told myself I'd just "rest my eyes for a bit" before getting ready... and that was my first mistake.
Big surprise i overslept. I jolted awake in a mild panic, heart racing, already calculating how much time I had left before class. There was no time for breakfast, no time to even think about food. I just grabbed my drawings, made sure nothing was missing or smudged, and rushed out the door on an empty stomach.
Waking Up Late
By the time I got back home, I was hungry and worn out in that specific way only a full day of lectures can leave you. So I made myself indomie with fried eggs, nothing fancy, just something warm and filling to make up for the pap and milk that had long worn off. Mixing the noodles with the peppers and carrots, watching the eggs fry up golden, felt like a small reward after a long morning. After eating, I finally let myself rest. A shower first, then just lying down for a bit, letting my body catch up with everything my mind had been carrying since morning. It's amazing how much a short break can do when you've been running on empty.
Presentation Time
Somehow, despite the rush and the tiredness weighing on me, the presentation went okay. There's something about adrenaline that pushes you through when your body has nothing left to give. Standing there with my classmates, drawings in hand, I felt a quiet sense of relief just knowing I'd made it through without falling apart — or falling asleep standing up.
The Walk Back
By the time everything wrapped up, exhaustion had fully caught up with me. My stomach was growling loudly, reminding me of the breakfast I never had. On my way back home, I stopped by a food vendor just outside school. Nothing fancy just good, honest jollof rice with fried plantain, and a boiled egg. Simple, but at that moment, it tasted like the best meal in the world.
Home, Bath, Rest
I finally made it home, dropped my bag, and headed straight for a bath. Washing off the stress and tiredness of the day felt almost therapeutic. After that, I ate the rest of my food in peace and finally let myself rest properly this time.
Today reminded me how much sacrifice goes into this journey, especially as a design student. The sleepless nights, the missed meals, the mental exhaustion — they're all part of the process. But at the end of it, there's a quiet satisfaction in knowing you pushed through and gave it your best.
Thanks for reading, Steemit family. Here's to more late nights, more growth, and more small wins. 🙌
